What does the OTT tune do to the ECT button?

Hi I’ve never posted here but I just recently got the OTT tune on my 2020 sport. I’ve had 3 tunes so far. OV tune, KDMax and now OTT. So far I am loving the OTT. I opted for the lite throttle. Mainly because I hated the jerkiness of KDMax so I didn’t want to much. Now I’m thinking I could have maybe went mild throttle. But my question is. What all does the ECT button do with this tune? No I didn’t have anything specific set for the ECT so I’m unsure what all it does since I didn’t request that. Any help is appreciated.

 

What version of OTT do you have?

You can use ECT anytime but it is most effective in S-Drive.

 

Why not turn on ECT and find out?

 

The OTT I got was described as medium. I asked the same question, and this is what the tuner told me:

"When you drive normally you're in the Medium throttle sensitivity, press the ECT button, your throttle sensitivity goes to the "high" sensitivity."

 

I just got the newest tune out. I had it set to lite throttle.

What does it do in S-drive?

 

Ahh I see. I did notice it felt a little more peppy and seemed like it held the rpm’s a little higher maybe?

 

Try it out and report back.

When you first slide the gear changer to the left, it should be in 4th gear.

The transmission will not go higher than the gear you set it in S-Drive.

Bump it up to 5th gear and see how that works for you.

Switch it back to "D" to let the gears change without your input.

 

Can set throttle settings with it or gear lock.

My tune is mild normal and with etc it’s medium and gear lock.

 

I’ve used s- drive before while towing my trailer. But not since this tune. So when I have the ECT engaged it locks whatever gear I have it in while in s-drive? I’ll give it a shot tomorrow. I appreciate all the honest advice!

Hi Kevin - sure sounds like you never had the right KDMAX Pro tune, it should never be jerky unless you have the wrong throttle option. Those changes are free so I am sorry to hear you are moved on. Please consider KDMAX Pro v9, the reviews are stellar and if you are pre-existing customer the cost may be little to none depending on what you had and how long ago you received it.

I suspect the ECT does the similar thing for OTT as it does for KDMAX Pro, the KDMAX option was perfect for my recent towing trip across VA with a Jeep Cherokee behind my '16 SR5. It sure shifted well!!

If you still ahve the 2013 in your signature we have tunes for them also

 

Who did your tune?

I can only give my opinion about the tune.

Your Tuner should provide all the info you need.

 

Probably want to ask your tuner what the settings are. Gear lock is usually a requested option. Not automatically tied to ECT.

 

A local guy here in NC named Matt Cook. He has did all of mine. Stand up guy. I did ask him what it did and he said it was just like a sportier mode. I just wanted more info.

 

The KDMax I had was not pro. I got it before pro came out I think. I liked the pep of the tune but the throttle was jerky for me and very touchy. Seemed to have some idle hang as well. It was hard for me to keep any decent fuel mileage seemed to decline from the time I had got the tune. I’m not basing your product so please don’t think that. I no longer have the 2013 I honestly forgot that was up there

The Ect for OTT has another shift map for tow / sport use and can have custom throttle variants.

In normal operations, the throttle input in Ect is one stage higher than D, but we also have variants for crawl or heavy Offroad driving that can be done if people want a lighter or specific throttle in Ect.

No issues with your opinion, we have just had some significant updates and leverage some great platform updates. Please consider revisiting our latest tune and let me know if you need any help on that front! When an owner is 1+ years behind then tries a newer tune from another provider I always want to save them $ and see if they want the latest and greatest they could have received!
