Nice instrument panel and switches. will be safe to drive. I would need to sell my house to buy something like that and then live on the road.

 

I think its awesome that they're actually doing it. And the starting prices aren't even insane. Interested to see how it goes.
(They use BMW B58 engines which is a unique choice)

 

They start in the fifties last I checked. Not crazy.

My IT company has offered early retirement packages. I need to make up my mind by Feb 2nd. My last day at work would be March 31.

I do enjoy my work and I'm technically 18 months shy of getting full government benefits. The retirement package would leave me short by a year. I'm thinking about taking the package and finding a job that is more physical with less stress and continuing to work. I would love to work for a store or business in the outdoors industry where I can harness my passion to help others enjoy off-roading and outdoor fun.

Thoughts?

 

When you say benefits, are you strictly referring to pay or would you be losing out on anything else on top of that?

If it's simply pay, I would take the retirement package and go with your suggested plan.

It took me quite some time to realize there are way more important things than money, and ever since practically retiring, I haven't regretted the decision even for a moment.

Less stress, a monthly check, and the freedom to pursue something that'll make you happy?

90s/00s isn't old to me but...I was around for the 90s so maybe that's why lol. To me, getting something from the 80s or older would be considered old.

 

As soon as it has a carburetor it is old to me, could have built it yesterday but if you slap a carb on it's old (sorry motorcycle guys). I'll work on anything, but I enjoy things with EFI.

 

My father took an earlier than expected retirement a couple years ago from the company he spent his entire career at. He's been doing really well making good money as a consultant for other companies in the same field (corporate insurance) and gets to do it all from home/remotely and really only when he wants to. Might be something to look into
