    Hey gents,

Does anyone know if a Gen 1 steel 16' rim will fit a Gen 3 4WD V6 TRD sport? Any risk of interference with the caliper?

I'm the proud daddy of a '23 Tacoma TRD Sport 6 MT manual.

I just put on my winter tires (I live in Canada), which I bought online (I won't mention the website and it's NOT originalwheels.com).
They offered "take off rims" and sent a picture of the Gen3 16" steel rim.

Instead, what I received looks like it came off an 2001 - 2004 Taco, at least according to some Googling.

Also checked the markings on the rim and they read: T16X7JD0TCMC9 OOEW9

I did spin the tires around when it was jacked up and spun the wheels a half turn with no rubbing but it seems extremely close, maybe 1/16" clearance.

Am I overthinking it? Thought I'd ask before I take it out tomorrow.

Not sure if they will give you issues, but I will say, make sure your lug nuts are the kind with the tapered bottom, and that it seats properly into the rim. That being said, if they sent you the wrong rim, shouldn't you contact who sold it to you first?

Only thing I thought was different was the hub size. Gen3 is smaller I believ. But like he said, make sure you have self centering lug nuts and you should be fine.

You might try comparing/asking over here (Bearded taco thread). Utility package comes stock with steelies.

Thanks for the response guys. Yes, the Aluminum lug nuts are designed to work with steel rims and do have a taper to center them. The only drawback is that they do stick out more

I did confirm the rims were well seated.

Will probably jack up the front of the truck and confirm no obvious interference again.

And yep, I've emailed the tire reseller but they're not open until Monday. And frankly, as annoyed as I am, about not getting the right rims, I'll probably not bother with an exchange if they don't have issues.
Especially annoyed since I bought used center caps for the Gen3 and they don't fit on these rims due to the shape of the spokes.

If it was the sellers faulty listing, I would just have them swap them out and pay for any shipping. Might just for winter tires, but those things look stupid.

Lol. The rims or the lug nuts?

And I did jack it up this morning and confirmed there's clearance but it's tight. Can't remember if any other steel rim I've had has been this close. Maybe 1/16" of inch / 2 mm clearance.
