Utility package Tacomas (The bearded toy)

This thread is for all those Utylity package Tacoma's, the non painted front or rear bumpers and non painted door handles and mirriors and the factory removed rear seat. Lets see any modifications you've done on these models. The lack of factory options can be a challenge for additions so this is just for helpful hints and Ideas.

 

Where do I get a UTYLITY package?

Add intermittent wipers and cruise control if they still aren't standard on 3rd gen. You'll be glad you did. I would say add a backup cam but I believe those are standard now, correct?

 

The intermittent wiper nor the cruise are standard on this model but the camera is. I ran into issues installing fogs on this model with out the intermittent wiper option but was able to get it figured out finally.

We don't see utility packages in Canada. Toyota Canada only sells shiny stuff. How much less $$ is this package?

As a matter of fact, 2wd and PreRunners are also very rare as well. I think that I've only seen 2 PreRunners, which were probably brought up from the states. There is no such thing as 2wd Off Road packages either, which seem entirely useless to me anyway.

Is the utility a 4 banger?

 

Just out of curiosity can you paint the unpainted bumpers or are they a different material than the stock painted truck bumpers?

I certainly cant speak for all of US market but I was able to get this one for 23k and change out of dealership in Idaho. It is a 4x4 2.7 L stick. After trade in of my 08 base tacoma 2wd with 73k miles I rolled home for around 16k. Ive put 2.5" Rough Country leveling kit and tires, rims, bedrug, seat covers, tailgate blackTacoma lettering, tinted windows, Husky floor liners, Classlll tow hitch, fog lights, and nerf bars, DeeZee black tool box for another $3,500.00. Ive got a few more things to do but I thought this was an extremly economical way to go with out all the dealer mark ups.

 

They are just base or stock virgin ABS plastic they are paintable after of course doing prepaint prep.

It sounds like the way to go if you plan on replacing the front and rear bumpers, lifting, swapping out audio, etc, etc.

Haggle them down to close to 20K, spend another 5-7K getting your truck set up the way you want it--and have a truck, thats comparable to the TRD models, for $5-10k less.
