Can't find an answer to this pretty technical question. Admin can redirect if there's a thread on this but I doubt it. Sort of a longshot question. If there's a better forum that may address this, feel free to point me in the right direction.

This is related to using my Taco as a truck camper. It's a 2022 Off Road with the AC outlet in the bed. 100/400 watts. The only time you can get 400 watts out of it, is when it's running in park. In drive, it auto switches to 100 watts. I must assume it does this because if it stayed 400 watts, it would be taking too much power away from what the vehicle need to run.

What I'm wondering is... First, I need to upgrade my alternator to a higher output alt. I have not looked for that yet but I'm know I can do that. What I really want to know is there a way to get the system not, to switch the outlet output to 100 watts when putting the vehicle in drive. The bottom line is my Jackery Power Station will charge charge much faster with the outlet putting out 400 watts.

That's it in a nutshell. Thanks in advance for any info. Again, I know this is a very technical question.

It will not charge faster with more AC wattage.

Turning DC into AC then back to DC is also pretty Rube Goldberg, but to each their own I suppose.

Not convinced you need a bigger alternator to plug in a Jackery. Look at the DC charging input amp rating, bet you should be able to handle that on stock battery/alternator.

Power pack is a DC battery, it has a DC charge input.. that is by far the most efficient and sensible way to power it.

Look into a fuse block if adding other things, or simply run something like a fuse with 6ga cable if needing 12v power all the way at the back of the truck.

Have you tried to charge you Jackery with the A/C outlet? There is a possibility it will not charge to begin with because it is a modified sine wave inverter. Some of the power stations out there will not charge on modified sine wave. You might have to install a pure sine wave inverter to start with.

As for your alternator, if you have the V6 and tow package, it is a 130amp output alternator. It will be fine with 400watts.
