From what I've seen many base TRD OR 4x4 Tacoma's are available (mostly gray or lunar rock), but they're padded with a bunch of cheap accessories from Toyota (floor mats, exhaust tip, black out emblems, ect.) that nobody really wants. On top of that, dealers are trying to tack on $3k or more in BS addendums and are making money from trade ins and financing. Invoice should be $37k ish. These "base" trucks are easily netting dealers $7k or more with each transaction.

DCOR here, advance tech the only option.

The 360 camera quality is nearly criminal, I can't see it being overly helpful off road, it does help with the lines in the parking spot though.

The LED headlights are THE BOMB, or so everyone says....sadly I couldn't get both options and got advanced tech instead.

Cross traffic and blind spot is nice, certainly not "must have" features but still handy.

    Auto headlights are a joke

I think adaptive cruise is standard, if it was part of advanced tech just be glad you don't have to use it.

The suspension is pretty crap. I know folks like the pro suspension but the 6112/5100 setup is fantastic. Cheaper than the factory lift and MUCH MUCH better ride.

Yeah, that's what I'm finding around here - The 'Black Out' pkg isn't bad looking, on a White truck, but ridiculous at $450ish for just badges/grill. I'd take that though if that's all that was added, with mats, etc. Last new vehicle I bought was 2001 (F150) and the business has changed quite a bit since then.

But my mantra is, NO MORE FORDS!

Longo in El Monte has 147 unspoken for Tacomas either on the lot or coming in. 113 are OR. They sell at MSRP in 2023 world.

If I had to redo mine and buy another, I think I'd want the advanced tech package just to help with parking in the city, but other than that maybe not quiet as useful. Tech package with BSM is worth it along with LED headlights which were my minimum requirements. Ended up getting bunch of other stuff I probably didn't need (predator steps , door guard, floor mat, door sil protectors) but they look decent so at the end I'm content. Other items you can just add yourself (tail gate lock, bed lighting, etc)

I will say after my 3 hour drive from dealership when I picked it up, there was a 1 mm paint chip in the front near the grill, assuming a rock flung and hit it on the highway. I have "ice cap" color.

netting is a little ambiguous. It’s not like they have a bunch of floor mats and blackout emblems sitting in back that Toyota gave them for free. They all have a cost. It is adding several thousand to the cost in some cases but it’s not like it’s adding $7,000 in gross profit.

The actual cost of these items is significantly less than the advertised line item price on the window sticker. Toyota's selling as many of the 3rd gen accessories as they can before the 2024 goes into production.

If you roughly add up what customers are paying for these trucks new over invoice, (because no dealer is selling for invoice these days) it's a few grand. MSRP or slightly under is still netting the dealer at least $3k plus the $700 or so in hold back.

Then and up what is made in kick backs in the finance box on the back end of the deal. Even if the customer is just financing and not buying an extended warranty the dealer is making a few hundred or more. The more customers they get financing for that month the bigger the kickback. You are aware Toyota Financial offers kickbacks to dealers for financing customers right?

Then factor in the few thousand under trade in price dealers are actually paying for customer trades. Dealers like to leave roughly 5k profit built into each trade. Sometimes it's more or less depending on the type and condition of the trade. That covers any repairs, dmv or auction fees, ect and still leaves profit when the vehicle is sold on the lot or at auction. If they can finance another customer on this trade in and sell them an extended warranty then they'll make more profit.

Dealer's are also reimbursed for the "free" tank of gas when a new vehicle is sold.

$7k is easily achieved on each sale of a base optioned TRD OR 4x4 DCSB. Sometimes it's more.

I'll add dealers are selling these trucks before they hit dealer lots, so they aren't even paying interest to hold the vehicle on the lot before it sells.

I’m a former sales director, very familiar with the ins and outs. Your financial kickback is referred to as reserve. Either in markup from buy rate or a flat from the lender. We typically made $3,000 average gross on every new car sale (front and back including holdback), not including new car bonus money. This was pre-Covid.

I got out before. I obviously still talk to guys in business. It wasn’t unheard of to have a $3,000 commission from selling a new car though.

Majority of these are probably claimed. They have to list all vehicles that are in allocation regardless if its pre-sold or not.

I called Longo (I saw those numbers on their website). They actually have very few TRDOR and what they have is in dark colors or the Crazy Green.

Just came here to post that you spelled “came” wrong. I’m assuming anyway. “Just can’t here” doesn’t make sense to me.
