So what is interesting at a max of 15 miles from your home?

'cause that's where a sleep driver or teenager went.

My neice was a big Ambien based Amazon shopper. Stuff showed up she didn't recall, time stamps on orders showed she was sleep shopping.

    Part Out?

I would bet you saw the mileage when you were driving to work, and your memory recorded that number as the one you saw when you arrived home, or you went for a nice midnight drive while asleep. Either way, obsessing over changing the oil at exactly 1,000 miles or at any obsessively specific number is a little bit insane. Think about this, does the science of the oil, engines, temps, changes in driving style between trips, have an effect on the oil and when it really needs to be changed? These mileage numbers for when to change your oil, are estimations based on means of oil breakdown, with extra caution. I would bet if you are easy on the vehicle, you could drive an extra thousand miles per oil change and be fine, but if you tow heavy weight often, you should change the oil more often.

I say, you part it out, and buy yourself a Nissan Leaf! (Kidding)

This is gonna be one of those posts that the OP disappears

If the kid knows how to drive stick, makes it even easier to use, take it out of gear and push it out of the drive way…

Ha…been ages since I participated in an internet web forum and this is even better than I recall it being.

No ambien, et al. No kids, and my wife doesn’t know how to drive it (yet). My dog, while talented and resourceful, can’t reach the pedals. It was exactly where it was left last night, no marks in the fresh snow this morning. It was 960-something when I left work. But of course I didn’t actually post this expecting anyone to believe me. :)

For whatever reason I fired up the Toyota app last night (worthless for MT owners, all it shows is miles and fuel level), and it read 1013 miles then as well. Struck me as odd but it also never seems to catch that I filled up the tank (1.7 mies from gas station to driveway, presume there must be some sort of mile interval it updates at). Hoped it was a matrix glitch but the odo matched it this morning.

Only other bit of data that could be relevant was the truck was a showroom display with a RTT, so for a few weeks I can only assume it was the kids playground while it was there. The battery was dead when they went to start it, presumably from a lot of dome light time and who knows whatever else that might drain the battery. This crossed my mind when I saw the Tundra post (it was a 2011 iirc).

You should take it to Toyota and demand a new truck. You deserve it.

Just to clarify, if the odometer is jumping around that is very weird. If you are looking at the Trip Meter, Toyota has had problems in the past. Post #350 has a picture of the TSB. I had my Combo meter replaced under the above TSB.

I have noticed as a rule of thumb when a thread here exceeds 2-3 pages it’s most likely all garbage posts after page one (if that). Knew I was in for a ride when I got the reply email and we’re already at 2 pages on a weekday morning..yet I keep coming back, and now I am even posting..

Did they just charge it or did they give you a new battery? Anywho, perhaps you read 990 as 960? The math on that lines up imho.
