You are probably right and I have never really thought about it that way....i just feel like we are constantly getting hosed by the price of gas.

Not sure what their current price is… but the lowest priced place to my knowledge out our way Paul is the CITGO behind the Plum Crazy diner on 140. Can’t stand these prices anymore… sh*t is outa control!!

I haven't tried the CITGO juice yet, I will have to give it a try as I usually run RoFo gas, the new store by the Westminster airpark is where I go. There is a shell in Timonium that usually has decent pricing, I like to get a tank of that when I'm in the area. The Taco and 4runner seem to run better on that fuel.

My 3.4's don't like rofo or wawa gas. I stick with BP, Shell or Exxon. And now since I moved to WV I can get ethanol free at Liberty. I run that in all my power equipment & atvs.

I’ve noticed the same… mileage seems to drop fairly significantly with the “quick stop” fuels. I try to stick with the main vendors, but since CITGO is the cheapest around… I believe that’s all I’ve ever put in the Taco since I bought her. Creature of habit here! Lol!

My 2019 was tuned and ran best on Wawa premium. RoFo and Rutters were ok too. Most anything else, especially Sheetz you could tell something was missing. Before the 2019 was tuned it ran like crap on 87 but decent on 89. Didn't have to run premium with the tune but did make a difference. Will be tuning the 2023 soon, but not sure what I'll go with.

Im not tuned yet… still haven’t decided if I want to go that route yet. But always run mid grade. Every once in awhile, I feel generous and give her a little premium treat!

The tune is definitely worth it. I’ve had mine tuned for almost 2 years. About 1 with KD max and the other OTT. My truck liked the OTT more. @dave5623 is one of our local tuners for Ott. Unless things have changed, they’ll let you do a trial period but you’d need to talk with the tuner. Or I might have misremembered and made that up…

I had KD on the 2019. Going with OTT for the 2023 but I want to get it ceramic coated first.

I know there’s a thousand pages on these tunes… just wish someone would do a simple yet detailed pros/cons sheet on them both. Help people make a more informed decision on what is best for them. I just don’t have the time and patience to read the same things over and over for hours… only to still be confused at the end. A legit dyno run before and after would be nice too!

You guys have any direct comparison knowledge you can simplify and lay on me…?

It’s a tough decision and a decent investment now. I just double checked the OTT page and the first post does show some dyno runs with comparisons. That might help.

From stock to whatever KD max I ran was night and day difference. I even had the ECU TSB upgrade that was available for the early 2020 Tacoma that helped a lot.
Just as a reference, I had no tune before bigger tires. After the 255/85s and with the KD max tune, the truck performed much much better, better than stock with normal tires.
Going to the OTT, the shifting was a lot better and the gears would hold and no more searching. MPG didn’t really seem to change and I have a lead foot. Response when pressing the gas is pretty immediate, unlike stock when it would take a bit before you’d feel the power.
If you’re ever around Harford county, feel free to reach out and I’ll drive you around in mine. You can feel the difference.

Here’s the OTT thread with the dyno results- https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/overland-torque-tune-ott-by-overland-tailor.759590/

For my issue of bent cam tabs and the one mostly seized cam and bushing, I ordered a new cam bolt and tab kit. Im planning on swapping all the bolts out now, try to bend the bent tabs back and plan on having the new tabs welded in the future. Today was the last day of their presale so I pulled the trigger. Buying the single bolt and cam nut from the dealer would have been about 1/3 the cost of this kit. And if I needed bushings or something else that would be additional costs. Hoping that I can get the bolt out and there is nothing wrong with the lca bushing. https://kpoffroad.com/product/best-...and+Cam+Tabs&attribute_vehicle=3rd+Gen+Tacoma

For you 3rd genners, how often do you have issues with PCS being disabled? The two times I have driven the Taco in a sustained snow/ice storm, PCS has disabled itself.

Not overly concerned (knock on wood), weather is weather, but curious if you all have seen similar behavior.

I have yet to experience this issue with mine, but I have heard of it happening. Usually, when I’m pushing snow off the windshield and rest of truck, I make sure to do the TSS sensor in the emblem as well. I’ve heard too thick of buildup will cause it to malfunction.

Good morning MD, PA, VA, WV and sometimes DE, NY and NC.

Mine turns off almost every drive that’s longer than 30-45 min.
I do have a knock off pro grill and knock off sensor cover that’s probably too dirty or something.

    Morning MD.

@Just_A_Guy that sounds about par for the course for my experience with how frequently it becomes disabled in storms.

I actually would prefer that it stay disabled but when I disable it using the steering wheel controls, it’s always back on when I turn the truck on the next time. I haven’t bothered to read that part of the manual yet to check if it’s supposed to come back on every time or not.
