My wife is a teacher. Whenever I exclaim, "Well THAT is retarded!", she slaps me and says it is socially unacceptable to say that anymore. I always retort, "No, like a car's distributor...it will slow down the timing! It retards the timing. Kinda like whoever did [fill in the blank for whatever, gulp, retarded thing someone did]. Their timing was retarded. Look it up. Moron."

I leave off the moron part. But I need to look macho to you guys, so, yeah. My story, and I'm sticking to it.

Was the mounting holes already in the hood underneath or did you have to install them yourself, if so what size expansion nut did you use?

It may irritate the wife (or girlfriend) but strongly advise them to never agree to extra work at a repair facility. These guys make tons of money selling unneeded procedures to women. I'm not being a sexist, this is just a fact of life!

No accidents and has never been repainted, I am just wondering how far down the sill the rust is, I will have to investigate further.

Just fixed this issue on my 2017. Pulled all four of the door sill protectors up. Sanded down the rust areas (the majority was on the driver's front door area. Then primed the sanded areas.

You can get new door sill protectors. Part #PT747-35201-02
The year 2020+ version of these protectors wrap up the A pillar more than the originals. Which means they will most likely cover the area you just painted/primed.

Here is a thread showing what those updated door sill protectors look like:
