Minor correction -- it's a 35mm socket for that spindle nut.

Isn't that the same as the top ball joint nut of LR UCAs?

I'm clueless with that one. I've cycled a lot of parts through my truck but never installed a set of LR UCAs. :)

I beg to differ with that quote. I have 171,000 miles on my 05 & am just having an issue with my driver side bearing. I've been running 20" wheels since it was new.

I'm experiencing alot of road noise from my front left wheel. I'm assuming it is the bearing going out. 171,000 on my 05.

You also need the proper bridging material for the press as well, already did 2 sets on a 4runner and my 1st set on my 05. Once you do it once it is fairly simple. :)

Im getting ready to change the wheel bearing on driver side in 2 days. I hope it goes smoothly. Anyone with 6" fabtech do this? Do I have to take off I think its a sway bar connect to install inner seal?

Any job is easy if you have the right tools! I did mine in about 3-4 hrs(including the 20 minute drive to my g-pas shop by motorcycle). Cost $100 for the double bearing from advanced comes with a 3 year warranty so I might be doing the other side for free.......;)

Listen to this pain in the ass... I will be furnishing the names of dealer #1 if this isn't resolved to my satisfaction in the next couple days. I think they will make it right because I have been VERY pleased with them up until now.

Brought my 2008 Tacoma 4X4 (78,000 miles) to Dealer #1 for brakes, 4X4 service, difs, (all Royal Purple), tune-up, etc... about $800 worth of work total. I also specifically told them I thought I had a wheel bearing going out because I had an annoying roar and wanted to get it checked out.

The dealership indicated my noise was cause by cupped tires (BF Mud Terrains was only about 20,000 miles on them). I have had about 4 sets of these tires and never heard a noise like this but never a set of MKIIs so I thought...OK. As a side note... my digital compass/temp gauge was working fine when the truck went to the dealer and was dead when I picked it up (?).

I went to Discount Tire and they indicated they were slightly cupped but that comes with the territory for mud tires and suggested I rotate them again (I have had them rotated every 5,000 miles) to see if it is any better.

After the rotation I waited a couple weeks and it actually got worse. I went back to Discount Tire and said I was tired of the noise so they gave me a generous credit over around $150 per tire and I got new Nitto ATs which ran about $350 total.

I thought the noise was better but after about 10 minutes of driving I knew it wasn't. I thought... maybe these damn tires are just noisy as f--K too. After a little research I knew that wasn't the case.

I finally went to Toyota Dealer #2 and the service guy went for a ride... after about 15 seconds he said "that ain't tires"... then after 20 seconds or so he said "I am almost positive that is your driver side wheel bearing". WTF?? Was the first dealer just completely incompetent or what?

At the very least the first dealer needs to pay for my new tires I didn't need. The best part is that everything is neatly documented on my 1st receipt too... "Customer complained of roar/wheel bearing noise..." diagnosis: Cupped tires. Needless to say I am not happy. More to follow.

I have recently heard the roaring sound (it sounds like a mud terrain tire) is on my driver side front. My truck has never sounded like that with the Rugged Trails I have on it. When I turn to the right, the noise goes away, when I drive straight the roaring is there. I'm thinking it is the bearing right guys? I regularly tow 5000 lbs and use a load distribution hitch along with my 09 having 60K miles. My question is.......I have the part numbers for the inner and outer seals and the o-ring I can get from toyota, what is the best place to get the bearing itself? I have my own press so that's no issue.

If I go with this assembly for $105 I will only need to press the hub out and then in right? Does anyone know if this one includes the seals?
