This was bothering me. I couldn’t figure out why the fogs were coming on by themselves when the low beams were set to auto and it got dark out. I checked the pin outs of the harness and everything seemed fine. But somehow in the process of checking out the push button switch, I broke it. So, I got a new switch and lo and behold everything works properly. Switch illuminates and the push button works. The fogs are manually controlled and turn on/off as long as the parking lights/low beams are on or the stalk is in auto and it’s dark out. I can only guess that the switch was defective somehow grounding out the illumination with fog signal which turned them on.

I was installing some bed lights and a new factory switch today in my new 2023 SR V6 4 x 4 and I knew eventually I was going to do this fog light mod. I took my steering wheel panels off just to see if I was prewired or not and I was surprised I was not according to the pictures in the first post. This is what my connector looked like as it didn't have those two wires on the upper section of the connector. I was surprised as I was fully expecting it to be being a V6 model and all.

You can add the missing terminals and the headlight stalk with the integrated fog switch or the terminal to the M6 connector on the Main Body ECU and external switch. Or an intercept harness to the C11 (connector to the headlight stalk) and add a switch. Or even tap into the TAIL circuit at the C11 with an added wire (blue) and terminal from M6, having fog ON with the TAIL circuit. (might not pass inspection depending on State Inspection requirements.)

MIne was the same way..2023 SR V6 4x4, no wire in the stalk. So I did the terminal wire method in the ECU plug and external switch.

Ok gotcha, so there is still a way to do it without being prewired with the headlight stalk? I was under the assumption there was not without some major work. I still might go with the external switch method even if so. I remember reading that there are some members here that sell some premade harnesses that make it even easier. Do you know which harness or harnesses that I would need to get from a member here to make it as simple as possible without having to splice into my deck light switch and have the new fog light external switch illuminate and also illuminate on dash and function like oem as close as possible?

    Well.....

I plan on adding fog lights to my 23 SR V6 4x4. So far I have installed the lights & the wiring harness & I'm waiting on a switch. I looked in the fuse/relay box when I installed the wiring harness and saw there was a relay already in place. I haven't checked for the wiring in the dash yet - waiting on switch. I'm hoping since the relay is there the wire is as well.

I'll report back Saturday when I plan on hooking everything up..... Stay tuned

    Question for @kelvinml & @hanlan75....

Do your trucks have the convenience package with the cargo light switch preinstalled for the light on the back of the cab??

Did either of you check to see if relay was already installed??

My truck did not come with the convenience package with the cargo/deck light installed as I had to install it myself. Strangely enough it did have the fog light relay installed in the engine compartment relay box however. It just did not have those 2 extra wires in the C11 connector up by the stalk making it "prewired".

I had the cargo light switch, but didn't have the fog light relay pre-installed.

Thanks for the diagram. So it was basically be all plug and play if I can get one of those T harnesses? When I look up the one that @kmorgan3 sells I notice it has two loose wires coming from it. I'm assuming one of the loose wires goes to 26 on the M6 connector and the other one to ground?

Nope, I don't think they have it readily available.

The harnesses make it plug/play for switch illumination, you would still have to wire one leg to the missing terminal (if you’re going to hardwire it) and the other wire to ground.

Incorrect, just need to follow the terminal insertion into M6 (following procedure of first page of this thread, ground is part of the connector to the Bed Lamp connector)

Yes thats what I was thinking as well,at least I would not have to splice into the cargo switch harness. I know they sell those harnesses on Tacoma Beast and Caliraised but according to another post I seen the ones that Caliraised are not the official ones by Redside Electric, not sure if the ones that Tacoma Beast are or not?

Thanks for clarifying that, so the other loose wire on that harness goes to nothing, just cap it off?
