I am looking to buy a storage box for my 08 Tacoma. I was wondering if any of you have bought the one from Toyota and your thoughts on it. I know it is expensive but was wondering if it was worth it. Any other recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

I am considering buying the same box . I a read it was a quality tool box. If you get one let me know how you like it. Mine is a few weeks out yet.

Hey I just ordered mine today from the local Toyota dealer and he let me have it for 509.15 plus tax which ended up being around 530 bucks. He said it should be in tomorrow. Which I thought was fast. As soon as I get it I will try and post some pics and give my review.

I just got my box in today and absolutely love it. I am no toolbox expert but I think it seems well built. It has a 200 pound weight limit and I was able to install in 30 minutes in the rain. By the time I was finished it was to dark for pictures but I will take some and post them tomorrow.

I agree that it is outragous in price but you have to decide if you want to drill into your bed with another box or rig up some type of hook into your bed. With this box you can use the rail system that is already installed. Plus I lke the diamond plate on top and the black on the bottom. It was the right box for me but I agree it is not for everyone.

    Tacos,
I have had my toyota box since 2009 and have not had any problems at all. With that said, the price that i've been seeing on this thread is waaay too much. Try this, go to the dealership where you have been taking your truck for service or buying vehicles from and speak with the owner and tell him/her that you want to buy some stuff (upgrades T/B, CAI ect.,) a little at a time and can you get it at the new car prices...this should work without a doubt. Everything I get seems to be $200 to $300 cheaper from what i've been seeing on a lot of post on this venue.
    Good luck guys!

You can use any toolbox with the factory railing system. BetterBuilt makes brackets that hook to the rails and to the toolbox.
