RuffStuff still seem like the better option compared to those. @Bonzen sells the best option though here

Just saw the Ruff Stuff option. Looks like they are good. And WAY cheaper. Been dealing a lot with Ruff Stuff lately. Will probably go that route. THANK YOU!

Try OEM. I've complete shit luck with any kind of aftermarket exhaust gaskets on my 2.7L. That's all I use now
You can find them cheapest typically on ebay in packs.

My local 4wheel parts ordered them for me directly from their supplier. I recommend you go to Corbeau website, pick your color and options then send the info 4WP so they can order for you. The pair, with brackets ran just under $1k. Approx 4 week leadtime.

FWIW - I've had my Corbeau Moab's for a few years now. I like them, but don't love them.

If I were to do it again, I would spend a little more for the trailcats.

Roger Roger, I'll have to take it apart and see what's going on. At one point i said fawk it and took it to an exhaust shop. I think they shoved two in and cranked it down... To be fair it lasted the longest out of all of them  :homer:

I ran trailgear on previous taco, sheared one stud. Running the solidoffroad motor mounts that Bonzen makes/sells.

These are not comfortable to be honest but anything beats the old ones. I have plans to raise the driver side between 1.5"-2". They are pretty low and can see them being uncomfortable for long road trips.

I'm not sure if it's the same company but mine work there way open too. I ended up zip tieing them closed. I looked and the pin cracked my plastic handel which is probably the problem.
Like others said the solid mounts are pretty awesome and way beefer than the trailgear ones. They do add some vibration at idle.

ok tell more on the seats...

its not like this Taco is a luxury ride to start with. my factory seats are in excellent shape & evidently only small people have owned this one. they are still shaped good & very firm. but not sure it would ever be something id take on a LOOOONG trip. its a to town & grocery getter for us.

my "road trip" truck is still my King Rancher, thats my baby. its a road trip dream. its just not a lot of fun to park in town or at the local Rural King if you dont need to pull/haul a lot of something. not to mention the diesel cost for putting around. ;-0

So, I replaced the PCV valve today as I've had some oil seepage/wicking here and wondered if the PCV could be the culprit. The old valve seemed to be just fine (I'd replaced it already some 50K ago, for the first time in 20 years) and got me thinking.

What is this hose that comes into the intake just before the throttle body? Seems to come up and over the engine from the driver side, almost as if it would be a PCV from that side (but it looks like it just comes out of a fitting on the engine).

Also, while I'm asking dumb questions, what is the big "air box" thingy on the intake tube at the base of my arrow and what purpose does it serve?

(sorry for the crappy photo, got it off the internet b/c I failed to take one myself when I was out at the truck today)

Hey Dan, the hose you pointed out is the driver’s side valve cover vent. Similar to the PCV, but it only vents the valve cover on that side so you don’t get nearly as much flow through it and less fuel/oil mixture in the gas. I plumbed it into a catch can just to see what the difference between the two vents would be; the PCV easily gets 5 times as much fuel/oil/condensation pushed through it from the crank case.

The air box thingy is a resonator, I believe it serves to take resonance and drone out of the intake to make it quieter, and also dampens flow through the intake, for instance when you go from WOT to fully closed and the throttle plate closes very quickly. There may be other reasons for it too.

    Thanks!

I'm getting what I consider to be quite a bit of seepage at the connection between the hose (from the valve cover vent) and the intake tube. Enough that there's some oil running down the tube, all the way to the air filter. Two questions:
    1. Is this indicative of anything / some problem?
    2. I assume that a catch can is the way to solve the symptom, if I don't need to worry about the underlying issue?

Yeah I was getting the same thing, and the supercharger made it worse. I don’t think it indicates a problem, I think it’s just a result of an older, high mileage engine.
A catch can is a good way to address the symptom in my opinion. There are dual inlet catch cans that you could route both the PCV and valve cover vent to, that would be the way I’d go if I were to do it over again. I guarantee the PCV is pushing a lot more gunk into your intake runners that you can’t see as easily as that vent hose connection.
