Haven't checked in on this thread for awhile. I am still in Missoula though and I've been itchin to go wheelin now that it is warming up a bit and there is a little less snow and a little more mud and dirt. I just sent a PM to flyfishinMT since we are both located in Missoula and I think he might be a new member, not really sure. But all of us should rally up soon and hit a trail.

    Same here!

Rooty, YOTA, and Umrunner are all in Missoula if I'm not mistaken...maybe you can persuade them to go on a run with you.

Just went up Gold creek last night with a buddy and his FJ. There is a lot less snow up there now. I say give it another month and we will be mudding in no time. On the plus side, there is a GREAT mud puddle developing right near the entrance but it is blocked by the snow hills from the plow. They are only about 2 or 3 feet high and are melting fast but I might go dig out a path this weekend so people can hit that a little bit. Other than that, there is deep creek, blue mountain, Garnet ghost town, nine mile, and there is some great offroading just outside of Helena (it is even featured in the brochure for the trail teams FJ). However, we have not hit that spot yet but we will here soon. I say we plan something here soon and set a date for everyone to meet up and we'll do a little early spring wheelin. I would say that Helena spot is the best bet due to the fact that it is challenging but can be done by a stock FJ.

Missoula here. Only had my tacoma for a month now, only mod so far is the grey wire mod.

Snow has been melting fast lately, another good place to go in the spring is up beavertail...the south side and try to get up to tyler saddle. The snow is fun to get through in a few places.

Speaking of Gold Creek, I got my silverado and my tahoe stuck up there on february 7 of this year, about 7 miles from hwy 200 heading up the Sheep Mtn. Rd. Snow was 3.5-4ft. deep where we got stuck. Ended up having to come back the next day with a 92 4-runner that was locked frt. and rear to dig out my 2 rigs.

If ya see a timberland mica trd off road with a cap, and griz sticker on the back, thats me.

I do a fair amount of wheeling her around missoula. Another good trip to make is.... head up Rock Creek just east of missoula and turn up Brewster Creek Rd., it will take you to the top of Sliderock Mtn, which is around 7k and then you can head down the other side and end up out in Pburg.
