Auto theft is a big issue today, I leave my Tacoma unattended for hours and sometimes days at a time. Question: "The Immobilizer Fuse" behind the left hand dash storage compartment -If i remove this- Will that "immobilize" my vehicle??? That would certainly be a good added precautionary measure as long as it doesnt cause damage starting w/o the fuse... Thankyou for any intel you can provide.

Please change the title to something along the lines of “which fuse will immobilize vehicle?”

EMERGENCY is reserved for legit emergencies.

I’m sorry but your insecurities about the potential of vehicle theft does not constitute an Emergency.

If you don’t want it stolen there are many ways that is already discussed on this forum.
Discrete kill switch for ECM, fuel pump, ignition, accelerator pedal, battery etc etc etc etc

These can make your vehicle a “non-drive”.

The fusebox contactors aren't designed for frequent removal and replacement of fuses. I would expect daily pulling and plugging to wear them down pretty quick.

    Then don’t it.

    I wouldn’t recommend repeatedly pulling a fuse.
But it’s your truck. You’ll think of something.

People come here with "Emergencies" and asking for any local member to come to their aid right now. Putting "EMERGENCY" in the title implies someone is in dire need of help. There have been life and death situations where someone was stuck and stranded in freezing weather who have gotten help by posting they had an emergency.

Your post may be important, but it isn't an emergency.

Whoa. Maybe take about 20%-30% off there chief. I really don't think either of their comments warranted this sort of a response from you, especially considering that they are both 100% right and your situation is far from an emergency. No reason to come out that hot and angry.

Edit: I see the thread title change  now back to the part where there are plenty of people here want to help.

Lol. Surprised that (now deleted) response didn’t result in a ban.

But I’ll take the high road.

If this is an emergency that you need the truck immobilized, just pull the negative terminal on the battery at night. Get a good motion detection camera. If they break into the truck, try to start it and fail, you’ll see the commotion, make some noise as you call the cops. They should hopefully bolt.

Kill switch would be my preferred method, but if OP wants to pull a fuse daily, he might consider a short fuse extender like this so the wear is on a replaceable part and not his fuse box. Also would make it easier to find the fuse.

It seems that you already have a T-Tap to something somewhere.

If you don’t want to fiddle with wiring.

I believe there is a switch that plugs into a fuse, that you can use.
But those are very easy to find are fix for a determined thief.
One of the first spots a thief would look at is the fuse box.

Other than that, you are looking at mechanical locks, such as clamps, boots, etc.

Being a vehicle theft victim truly sucks. I had a car stereo stolen, a motorcycle, and a work truck.

So everything I drive gets the best alarm I can get. I like being able to sleep and not have to run out at 4am with my skivies and Glock.

When considering options, the club is defeated in 20 seconds. A kill switch is better than nothing but keep in mind, they’re experts at finding them. Be smart where you put it.
