    Hello,

ok, I tried searching for an answer, but I couldn’t find a specific answer to above subject.

I will NOT be off roading, I’m just interested in which one (SR5 or Sport) has the nicest ride as a daily driver.

    TIA

I believe Sport come with a different Hitachi model shocks vs SR5 Hitachi. Also there is a difference in the tire size between two.
Sr5 tires a bit narrow and have bigger sidewall that contributes to the ride quality.
    Both probably very close.

I believe the Sport ride is more stifffer. I do like the way my Sport handles on the freeway.

Thank you. I have heard it may be better for hugging the road, but I’m old and won’t be driving that fast. I am really struggling with all the confusing packages, options, models and of course, the other BIG consideration = $$$$

I got all the options available at the time I bought my Sport. Mine came with heated seats (which I never use) but my wife loves. Find that happy balance between options and what you can afford.

I'm old as well, the SR5 has much too mushy of a ride for my likes, I am happy with the ride and handling of my Sport.

Yes the sport has the stiffer ride of the two models you mentioned.

You need to drive them yourself. Everyone has a different opinion on what is their ideal ride/ comfort as in ride.

If you want the softest ride on the road with stock suspension, buy either a sport or an SR5. Then pick up some off-road model suspension from someone here. People are constantly selling them for cheap, it’s OEM and it’s the softest on road ride of all the models.

I’ve driven both back to back and man you gotta have some serious sensitivity to really notice a big difference.

For strictly on-road and towing, I liked the Sport suspension. Granted, we are somewhat splitting hairs when comparing the stock trim setups, but there are a few key differences. The Sport shines in that it has the least amount of body roll and nose dive. It will also feel the harshest over potholes. The SR5 feels a bit more "trucky."

If I was strictly in town, I'd get the Sport. But that's my one single opinion. Drive both back to back.

I owned both and the SR5 is a smoother ride than sport. I believe shocks are different and tires will make a difference in ride quality.

The only difference is the shocks, a replaceable wear item. Don’t make a purchase decision based on that. It would be like choosing the model with the better brake pads.

Shocks are relatively cheap and you can buy whatever you want and get the ride you want.

Really can't complain with how my sr5 rides. It took several thousand miles for the suspension to settle in, vs my gen1 tundra that had more of a large car like ride from the get-go. Between a buddies trd tacoma he owned, and my sr5, it was hard to tell a lot of difference....probably similar with a sport. I can say one thing, carry a couple hundred lbs. in the bed, and it's very smooth.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

"Nicest ride" is really dependent on the individual, drive both and see which one you prefer.

The Sport has a firm suspension that will give optimum performance on the pavement, the package includes wider 65 series tires and is tuned to offer the least body lean in corners.

Driving is my primary form of entertainment, I drive simply because I enjoy it.
The Sport is an ideal road trip vehicle for me, hours and miles later I'm still engaged and having fun.

On the other hand, people who have a more utilitarian view of driving might find the Sport ride annoyingly harsh or busy. Again, drive both and decide what suits you best.

There is one differentiating factor between the SR5 and the TRD Sport not yet discussed in this thread, the ability to opt for a manual transmission on the Sport.

I just recently swapped my stock Firestone destination tires for some cooper discoverer AT3 4s and the ride and handling of my SR5 has improved dramatically. I wish I done it sooner.

You will probably feel more difference between a longer wheelbase double cab long bed vs a double cab short bed than a sr5 vs sport. I am 69 years old and don't have an issue with ride quality on my double cab long bed sport.
