2009 Taco Lift Options

    5100's all around, fronts at 1.75". TSB leaf pack + Toytec TSB AAL
    Hello all, new member here. 2009 DC TRD Sport.

    I bought this truck with every intention of lifting it, probably 3". I've researched plenty, and I am aware of my options. The more I read though, the more hesitant I am. People are having drive line vibrations, front diff problems, CV problems, etc - even with lifts as small as Bilstien 5100s set at 1.75" with the rear TSB. Is there any sure-fire way of getting a minor lift without having these issues? Are these issues a result of a poor install (i.e. would a professional installation result in no issues).

    Lastly, if I am concerned with factory warranty, am I better off just putting the whole idea on hold until the warranty expires? I'd rather not battle a dealership 2 years down the road about front diff problems that would have occurred even without the lift...

    I posted this over in TN as well, I'm sure some of you are members at both places. Hopefully nobody minds posting the same question in both forums.

    Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
    if u want a good 3" setup w/ no issues, get 3" coilovers w/ a diff drop (if 4x4) and new UCA's. the rear would be good w/ 1.5" NEW leaf packs

    Skip the diff drop. On the new trucks it doesn't have as much of an effect as it did on the older models. I have one in my truck and would have been happier without it.

    Driveline vibrations can be helped by installing a center support bearing drop kit on the rear driveshaft to reduce U-joint angles. Good luck and post pictures!

    well if u want the rear to be level w/ the front after 3" in the front....then u'll need a 1.5" leaf pack.

    and as for the diff drop, $15-20 is worth the extra piece of mind

    Very good point, but if you have no plans to install Bud Built skids, then do the diff drop. Then you can take it off later if you DO get the BB skids...

    I did.

    My suggestion (gathered from others here) is either the adjustable coilovers on the 5100s or the OME 885 springs and OME shocks. I went with the former...
