advice with HID offroad lights

hey all, my wife is in a giving mood and gonna let me buy a pair of HID's to put on the taco. im looking for a pair of slim lights. ive found some online such as eagle eye, and rugged ridge. anybody have any experience with these, or can anybody recommend a good pair? oh and they are just going to be mounted to my stock bumper, thats why i wanted slim. any advice is much appreciated

Congrats on the green light! I was thinking about a set of HIDs as well for my Taco and my Cherokee. I was going with incandescent or halogen but they draw way to much power. I would go with a Xenon HID light from HELLA such as the 4000 series, but this depends on what your requirements are and how you will use them. There are a few different styles within this series such as pencil, flood, driving, compact pencil etc. If you drive in fog or dust a lot then perhaps a yellow light may be needed. There are some that do a high beam driving light and low beam yellow fog but they are a bit pricey (300-600)

yotataco94- iv e looked into them and kc seem super expensive and hella are a little more reasonably priced. i also found some on lcengineering, but i dont know what makes one HID better than the other.

jlee- haha well we have our spending money/allowance that we get from each paycheck, and the rest goes to the joint for bills such as mortgage, car payments, and what is leftover is for us like if we want to go do something. its just kinda hard to justify something like that, that i dont necessarily need.

jeepin456- there really is no need for them, except for maybe when i go camping or as bad as it sounds, light someone up who cuts me off. i live in az, so no fog except for maybe once every couple of years. so im just looking for more of a flood of light to go out somewhat of a distance. ive tried to find a picture of the lights lit up, but no success.

 

Its one of those situations where your needs dont really demand a fantastic light. Lighting someone up with an offroad light that cuts you off can be accomplished with the cheapest of lights and since you have no fog you dont need the amber lights. Many companies make flood lights that have distance and I know if you check out ebay for KC lights (the basic kind) you will be more than satisfied with your needs. Dont spend the money if your not driving fast at night offroad which are what the more expensive lights are good for as well as brightness (I am talking about super bright)
