Stock spec was like 62 or close to that, so I went with that. I may up it to more around 100 though. The bolt is rather large, I'm sure it could easily handle a lot more than 62.

Out with the old, in with the new! Very thankful to have come across this post. Been chasing a clicking sound for years and could never figure it out. I have Elka suspension with sway bar delete. Always thought it was the LCA bolts. Replaced the lower coilover bolt with the 4Runner bolt and I can happily say I have no more noise. Toyota really screwed up on this. Huge design flaw. Hoping this new bolt extends the life of my spherical bearings as the last set only lasted 20k

Thank you guys! Finally fixed the click I would get whenever coming into a drive way and turning to park. Easy fix just use a floor Jack to help you lower the LCA a bit once the strut is decompressed the bolt is easy to slide in and out! Image posted for torque reference! Did this small fix three weeks ago no clicks yet!

I've seen a bunch of comments on this but is there any videos of someone doing it? I have the bolts and ready to do it but want to make sure I do it the best (easiest) way.

Didn’t end up solving the issue for me really at all. I still get the clicking noise on every decent bump. I don’t know what it would take to solve it at this point.

My truck is brand new so replacing the bolt and saving the bushing is worth doing. If your bushing is already shot, a new bolt wouldn't fix it.

My truck is bone stock and was around 30K when I did the bolt swap. Bushing was fine.

I don’t think the bolt is going to prevent anything. It’s a solid chunk of rubber, if it’s going to go bad, it’s going to happen regardless of what bolt is there because there’s a sleeve.

Here's my post with a video. Does yours sound similar?

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-front…going-down.800581/page-7#post-28975665

    Might be a body mount?

My 22 has 14K miles and has made the clicking noise since day 1. It used to only doing it on steep driveways or if I was getting after it over a speedbump. Now it'll do it in a flat parking lot if the wheels are turned sharply or any sort of chassis flex. I snugged down the bolts the other night with no change. Ordered the bolts to see if that does anything. Last time I had the truck in for service the tech blamed it on my cat shield, which was installed after the clicking noises were noticed.

I'm taking it in soon for the 15K service, hopefully the new bolts will eliminate the noise, if not not I'll ask them to take a look at body mounts.

Mine has made a click or clunk sound ever since I bought it, at 9k miles now. Ive had it looked at and of course Toyota says they can't replicate it after having it for 8 hours and driving all over.... even after telling them it happens right after driving away from a parking spot. It happens only once in a drive in the first 15 seconds or so after driving off from a parking spot. Ive figured out how to replicate it each time but still can't pin point it and don't want to give it back to Toyota for a whole day again.

I did some searching and found some older threads. Folks pretty much said it’s the strut itself. Could be the lower bushing, but also that many of them had to do with the spring contacting the lower or upper mount. There is a cushion on top of the springs on mine and those are defrosted but they seem still intact. The top coil on each of mine are very close to the second coil, maybe those clash sometimes on bumps. I don’t really know but it sure is annoying.

The bolt is only a fix for one very specific issue and I think many of the possible noises are not that.

Well... I jacked up the truck, had a buddy push down on the tire, slid the bolt out...

And I discovered that the Toyota dealer ordered me the wrong bolts. Shit. Can't return them because I bought them 2 states away and shipping them back would cost as much as I paid. So... parts bin... for some reason... they go. They are Gen 2 LCA bolts. I'll call the local Toyota tomorrow and order the correct ones... again.

    -sigh-

No, mine sounds like a loud click, only when going over a speed bump or dip, pretty darn annoying, dont think it's the shocks, i had bilstein's installed, same noise before and after, so that's not it.... sway bars maybe?

I have a hunch it's the actual lower spring seat cup shifting on the shock body. The stock shocks have the cups glued but the glue ends up cracking and then has a little slop on top of the clip on the shock body. 4600/5100s all have some slop between the body and lower spring cup by nature of how they go together.

I replaced the lower shock bolts with the 4runner ones on my truck. Click still happened.

Lower shock bushings were perfectly fine on the 5100s I took out as I replaced them with new ones. BUT during assembly I did one wrap of electrical tape around the body above the clip so the spring cup fit snuggly on the shock body.

    Zero clicking.

So the stock struts use a clip for the spring seat? I would have thought it was hard fixed to the strut body. The glue coming loose and then making noise would make sense.

It seems most logical that the bolt taper is the issue. A few months back a toy tech said it might be related to the brake caliper. The problem seemed to clear when I road the brakes going over the speed bump and it seemed to stop the click however I'm not always riding the brakes when I go over the bump. For me it happens on the wider speed bumps. Just an idea coming out of left field. At the same time I go over the wider undulations the transmission seems to be in a limbo gear for about 10 seconds.
