3rd member removal and installation

For those that have done this, were you able to leave the brake lines connected and removing the brake line mounting bolts and stretching out the lines enough?

I see it’s possible on the 2nd gen Tacoma so wondering if it’s possible on the 1st gens.

I hate dealing with happening to bleed the brakes

 

If your only changing the differential I have never been able to remove the axles without the backing plates which means disconnecting the wheel cylinders .

Smooth vice grips on the rubber line makes bleeding much faster.

If someone can remove the axles without the backing plates I would love to learn that trick.

Go full float and you will not go back to semi.

 

In theory it should work.

I know my steel brake lines do not have enough slack to move the backing plate that far.

Your brake lines might very well be different.

The way I see things far to much time to save a few minutes bleeding brakes.

Then with my luck all sorts of things would break. Causing all the brake line to be replaced.

 

You might as well just disconnect the lines and bleed the brakes. Plus it will give you a chance to get some new brake fluid in there. Just get some vacuum caps or something to stop the lines from dripping and you won’t have to bleed very much.
