Did a little more work tonight. Mocked everything up to make sure everything ends up at the angles I want.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

2 of the rigs that were with us were broken by the time we got to Red Lake.

    1 broken rear driveline.
    1 broken front axle shaft.

So, we just stuck together. Camped at Red, and then made our way out on Sunday.

Axle is dressed and ready to go to the shop tomorrow.

Got more of the brake fixins. Ready to plumb them after the axle flanges, perches, and truss are welded.

    Screenshot_20230917_204212_Amazon Shopping.jpg

Ordered GX460 front calipers (14WA). To upgrade over the Tundra brake upgrade.
(Getting ready to paint the rear calipers, decided I wanted to get the fronts so I can paint them all at once).

    Screenshot_20230917_204732_Chrome.jpg

The combination of the Lexus front brakes and 4th Gen 4Runner rear disc should put me at the largest front/rear brakes Toyota has put out.

    Lexus front brakes huh.
Don't hear about people using those for an upgrade in the front. How much bigger are they than the tundra ones?

    4 run, 2 don't
    Common swap for GX470's

The GX460 front brakes are the same as 5th Gen 4Runners (2010-2015 specific for the GX470 swap)

The rear brakes are 4th Gen 4 Runner brakes. So I can have disc and still have the factory style ebrake (instead of a line lock or some other ebrake).

I haven't gotten far enough to find out if I need to change the master cylinder yet. I figure I'll get all the brakes done and see how it feels. If it's needed, it will happen. I'll just need to figure out what MC I need to change to.

@SanClementeTaco had a similar setup with tundra fronts and sequoia rears and since he had an 01+ he could use the SOS Sequoia MC adapter. Really liked it. You already have a manual proportioning valve?

What is the bore size of the sequoia mc upgrade? IIRC, they're 1 inch?

Ya, I already did a Wilwood prop valve. Good to know there is an MC adapter. Mine is an 02 with no ABS. I was thinking, if I go larger MC, it would probably be Sequoia.

It should be the same as Tundra. I'm 99.9% that's 1 inch.

    06 flavor Sequioa had a 15/16th MC vs the 01+ 13/16th MC. 12mm x 1.0 fittings vs 10mm x 1.0 fittings.

Most of the SOS stuff I see uses the 99 Tacoma 4 bolt booster to a Sequioa. Not the 01+ 2 bolt to the Sequioa angled 2 bolt.

It'd be nice to have a MC that actually has a good F & R disc ratio.

So after all said and done, it's still a 1"? That's a huge waste of money for the SOS kit IMO. It's way cheaper (by a whole lot) to run a early first gen taco with a larger dual diaphragm brake booster with a 1" MC or even the slightly smaller 4R dual diaphragm brake booster and their 1" MC vs the hype SOS kit.

Heck, I bought from a local Toyota scrap yard a complete 4R booster/1" MC for $40 and used it until I was able to source a used but larger, early first gen tacoma dual diaphragm and 1" MC for $65 shipped.

Not to burst anyone's bubble about the so call SOS upgrade

    I bought a 1t t100 booster/1" MC and returned it to purchase the 4R.
