How many turbo high HP trucks are out there in the wild?
Are turbos not like the worst thing ever in the desert?
Legit questioning cause I was just having a conversation with someone about boost and Prerunners in regards to block choice longevity

IDK honestly but if i ever hear the term LS again it will be too soon, we’re driving Toyotas FFS.

I’ve probably had 10 Toys dating back to the mini truck days and the funnest truck i ever had was a pretty seriously built turbo 22re that would make Mustangs and Camaros cry

I also hate the sound of a 4 stroke dirt bike and don’t think that you have to have a 100k truck to have fun, that you can and should DD your truck and i want you to get off my lawn !

I was going down the rabbit hole of searching Toyota and Lexus V8s and transmissions the other day. Ultimately led me to conclude that I wanna find a wrecked tundra with a 3UR-fe and just steal the whole drive train out of it.

Def don’t need a 100k truck for fun

a 3.5 kit and a SUA is plenty o fun

But I’ll probably only ever have the 1 “Toy” for the rest of my life
So it’s okay for mine to be expensive

Why replace the whole system? Did you remove it?

Evap pump and charcoal canister failed. At least according to the five codes it’s throwing. I think one of the gas pumps I visited didn’t stop right and filled up the canister and pump

There is more than likely one component that failed and is causing multiple issues. Those components should be able to be diagnosed.

Can confirm this. Still ain’t “cheap” but if you’re willing to learn to fab, and invest time in shock tuning, you can probably build a pretty freaking sweet and reliable truck for $20k-ish in parts and materials.

I’d love to do a 2UR-GSE swap so both my cars have the same beautiful engine, but they’re extremely pricey, not including a very expensive computer to run the whole thing.

and enormous…. The 4Runner that did it had to do a body lift just to fit the thing easier…

Same thing with a coyote swap. Massive DOHC V8.

there’s a lot of reasons the LS made sense and why it’s pretty common. I’ll be boring all day long. The Tacoma blew its original V6 a year ago tomorrow. It’s been a year trying to swap in the world’s easiest engine to swap in. I couldn’t imagine something more difficult.

If I had a place to do it… I’d already have put time into finishing my truck.
apartments no matter how nice are usually not cool with you tig welding a truck in the parking lot

Could be. From my research it seems like the evap pump should be what’s causing the fault. But from what I recall, I think I need to replace the charcoal canister with it. Pump was housed inside or something like that

Yeah I saw that! If you can get creative, there’s a lot of Toyota options. Heck, even a screaming Honda K-swapped Tacoma sounds pretty cool too

Edit: I was looking at the Cummins R2.8 turbo diesel. Would solve the mpg problem. Makes the same HP but more torque than the 1GR, and does so much more efficiently. However that require some interesting transmission work
