Brake Issue

I have an 04 Double Cab PreRunner V-6 and I am having issues with my brake light on the dash coming on at times. I have recently replaced my front brake pads, rear shoes have around 70% of meat left, and we have adjusted the parking brake cable to provide between 10-12 clicks on the lever when pulled out per repair manual directions. I have also checked my brake fluid resevoir, and it's fine. Usually in the morning, after releasing my parking brake lever, the indicator on the dash will stay lit for a few minutes. I have also noticed it light up if I really stand on the brakes to stop quickly in traffic. I am wondering if I may have a faulty sensor somewhere in the brake system. I would say my brakes are mechanically sound, but this light on the dash is driving me BONKERS!!! HELP!!!

I recently had the same problem... for me it turned out to be a stretched parking brake cable. I was going to fix it but since I have an auto and never really use the parking brake i figured i would just leave it. If you do use your parking brakeyou should probably get it replaced since you may run into it sticking a bit while your driving. Mine is off and stays off.

 

yeah I would say check the switch that operates for the parking brake.. my one truck had the little pin that hits it bend (how I have no clue) so I adjusted the switch out little farther

 

Hey the guy I bought my truck from showed me a trick with E-brakes. Get under your truck with some Anti-Sieze. Pull the boot that covers the E-brake L-arm out with a screwdriver nice and easy, blob some of the compound into the boot. Work it by hand for a bit till it feels loose, then the pin inside the boot that allows that L-arm to move will be lubed and protected from any more rust, repeat every fall before the salt truck comes out, works for me, no adverse affects! If that arm sticks, your brake (warning) light will stay on.

 

thank you ROSCO 75. read a post, roll in reverse and pull e brake out of the dash like rapid fire. when it tightens up you've adjusted your brakes. what he did not mention was the gap you have created between the shoes and the slave cylinder. proudly pulled back into the yard and almost took out the shed. pumped the ped slowly and it fixed the problem. oh look the lights on. don,t reply i,ll be greasing my L arm, thanks
