How do you.........remove window tint

Thanks to Virginia law my window tint will not pass inspection for safety sticker so..................what is the preferred way to remove the tint. What have you all used? Thanks

 

go to a differnt insp shop......

 

a window cleaner with amonia?

 

A warm day is best. Pick a corner and peal. Then use a razor blade and soap/water squirt to scrap all the glue off. DONE!

 

or just bash the windows out ny stylz

I used steam a a square razor blade

 

flamethrower........I was going to say steam also, I've heard it works alright but either way it will be a PITA, I'd recommend a glass scraper as a necessity but thats my opinion

 

ended up paying a glass shop to get it off. I took the passenger side film off ok but it left the glue on and I could tell this is just not gonna be worth the aggravation, I don't know how they did it but man it was a perfect clean job and quick. I would been several hours on one window and would have not got it that clean.

 

New razor blades (square), goo gone, and windex, lots of paper towels.

Cut it into a few sections first (6 should suffice.) Then start at a corner and peel. Then take the goo gone to wipe off any adhesive residue, use it liberally because it will begin to smear as the solvent dries. Then once you think you've got all the adhesive off. Spray the window down with windex and use the razor blade at about a 45 degree angle to scrape the window down to be sure you get everything off the glass working in small sections. Then wipe it down with windex one more time and you should be done.

 

Home deopot sells some stuff called goof off and it will take that glue right off i had to do it in utah too.. it still sucks

 

when i lived in Vegas the shop that I went to had to redo my back window of a Grand Cherokee and they put a black trash bag on the outside of the window and sat the vehicle in the direct sun for about a half hour and the tint peeled right off and there was virtually no glue left on the window. The temps were in the high 80's when this was done.

 

There are some ideas on window tint removal on youtube. I personally used a heat gun with a razor to scrape off the glue residue off. And it worked like a charm. I removed the front door windows of my wife's Intrepid. And that took just 20 minutes for both.

 

Took off my front window tint. Too dark and cop stopped me and warned me that it was too dark read 28 on his sensor tool, should be 70. Oh well, the back is still legal and dark.

I used garment steamer. Both sides peeled off in one piece. Very little glue left and that cam off with goo gone, razor and Windex and paper towels.

 

With the handist dandist tool ever!

You could do as the thieving bastard did to my tinted window and take a crow bar to it.
