Help- Door won't unlatch... (post speaker install)

I know I've read about folks not engaging the door latch wire pull properly after assembly and then not being able to open the door using the handles. I cant locate any of those conversations.

'A friend' I know quite well is in exactly this pickle after installing new speakers in the rear doors...



How does one open the subject door in order to correct this?

Have any of your mates had this happen to them??

The speaker install went well and I can report that they perform better than I expected...
But it would be nice to be able to get into the back seat on the driver side in order to listen to them.

It addresses thw topic, but It made no sense to me... was that for 3rd gens?

I think it is for the 4th gens...

Im a bit baffled. I'm taking apart and re-assembling... Ill try to recap later.

 

Looks like when I read it from the top it addresses the lock and handle both. So I reckon it will help you.

 

I was happy to find it - I read the whole thing...
It just did not jive with what I had in front of me in my taco...

 

I haven't had to mess with mine but I recall my wife's old Rav4 took a little fiddling with when I replaced the door lock.
