What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Yes thanks, I saw this one and I am still undecided if I should go with mild/spicy or another variation. I guess I will wait to talk to the 'tuner' next month and have him help me decide.

 

LOL I work with her, I tried talking her into a KD Max tune... I love mine!!

Mild/Spicy ECT is what I have and it is great!

Let us know what you decide and of course how you like it!

 

I would have him put on the different variations they have and drive each one before deciding. That’s a good chunk of money to spend. If you’re not flashing them yourself, you’ll probably have to live with what you go with for a while before getting it changed to something different depending on how far away from the tuner you are.

Mild/medium or medium/spicy

I had medium/spicy done and liked it for the first couple days but a week later had Paul tune it down to mild/medium.

Running everyday on medium it felt a little too anxious for in traffic situations and that spicy mid range pull is god mode. Then there’s the under 5mph lurching in slinky traffic. Not fun when you barely touch the pedal and your truck lurches forward. In everyday medium.

So I met up with Paul and had him tone it down a notch

Mild is plenty of power for the commute and saves a little more on fuel mileage. Medium has enough get up and go for any circumstance I will need to be in. I even got mid 19’s mpg’s with mild. It’s a mellower option but still has the tune benefit

 

I have Mild/Spicy...mild drive, spicy ECT.

The lunging forward was a pleasant surprise at first but can be tricky in traffic...I had it as first tune in May 2022.

Now, I am more than happy with the way the pedal reacts...much tamer! lol

Agreed, I will have the tuner suggest what he thinks then try some different combinations out. It is definitely pricey, which is why I am wanting to try and make sure its good that day. Like you said, I would have to wait awhile for it to be tuned back up or down.

I think one of these would be the best option, but will have to wait a few more weeks to see.

I read somewhere (not sure on the accuracy) that they also can do a 'hybrid' variation if requested. I am not sure how it would work exactly but from what I gathered, they take say a mild medium and combine them to make one setting. Maybe someone else would have more information on that or if its bs or not.

 

I use the same cleaner + 303 protectant on my Z soft top. Good stuff!

Sorry about the late response! The video on the install was helpful but i did not end up removing my center console at all. Once i had the glove box out I was able to use a long needle nose to pop out the empty switch cover and snake the switch wire in there with the pliers as well. I have the manual truck so i used the empty hole where the ETC power button would be on the automatic trucks.

The rest of the install was super easy. Just go slow removing any trim.

Yes they do, I moved around and they don't slide hardly at all. The photo I took was before I completely strapped it down which may explain why it looks loose.

 

Security reasons I'm not going to say where we work or what she does. Sorry. She a pretty cool girl though.

 

You will soon find out that OTT is worth every single penny. Plus, if you amortize it over the years that you'll own your Taco... über cheap investment for über improved performance.

FWIW, our tune is Light/Mild. Too much rain here to risk much more. Drives exactly like I'd expect it to from the factory. Smooth, crisp and quick with almost zero gear hunting. Punch the ECT button and it rabbits!
