Lift help

I am wanting to get a 3" inch lift from toytec. What would you recommend that I need? Thinking about getting the 3" lift with front spacers and rear aal. This is my daily driver. Help and opinions are appreciated.

Agreed - I would stay away from spacer lifts.

Here's a coil lift with 885 springs:
885s are good for the double cabs, but 884s will work for standard and access cabs - just not sure which you have...

 

Can you use stock shocks with these?

You can, but you'll get a much better ride by swapping out your shock up front with the OME shocks.

 

new UCAs are a very good idea... It will allow you to get a proper alignment.

Can you run your truck without replacing them? Yes. But, you're going to wear out your ball joints. Here's a thread concerning this:

Also, you're alignment won't be quite right, so you'll probably have uneven tire wear.

 

285s on stock rims rubbed my Total Chaos UCAs - that's why I got wheel spacers. Not sure if this is a blanket statement on all 285s, but it was in my case. 285s on aftermarket rims with at least a 4.5" backspace should clear them.

 

Yeah prob stock for a little while. But who knows. May get wheels and tires before then. lol.

 

I got a set of Readylift spacers. But, Im about to make a hefty purchase through toytech and go with their coilover's and a bunch of other goodies.

Am I happy with the spacers, well yeah. It let me run my 33's for a year with no probs. Even went up with the fellas to the Uwharries with just the spacer up front and all went well.

But, "yup there is a but". I got to say that it is not a suspension upgrade. I like to look a it as us Medics would say "a STOP GAP". It is a temporary solution to a needed improvement.

If bigger tires and no compromise in ride quality is exactly what you want, stay away from these... If you just want a cheap economical way to fit larger tires on your truck, and dont care much for offroading, or not too picky of with a harsh ride, then why not...

You pay for what you get. Im sure you heard it multiple times, but it's true.

My Readylift top plate spacers will be avaiilable late Jan early Feb, just FYI LOL...

 

Well the only offroading I will be doing is getting to my deer stand or maybe chasing a turkey in shawnee forest. But really just going for looks. I know I will catch heat for this.

 

Dont let no one give you a hard time for choosing your mods. Not everyone is ready to get into a competition lift. Luckily Toytech, Walker Evans, and Sway Away are making this a more affordable lift. Until then, go with what works for your needs. And, if quality somewhat lingers in the back of your mind; the OME's are Known to perform and are way more affordable. Just be prepared for a more complicated install...

I'm new here and have been burning the midnight oil the last few days researching lifts of all sorts. The conclusion I came to is basically the set up you have, and your truck looks great by the way.

I have an 05 TRD offroad access cab 6 speed, black, no mods yet at all.

I was hoping you could help with a few questions:

1. Did you do an AAL and upgraded shocks in the back? I was thinking of going with an AAL and the 5125's, but not sure yet?

2. Did you do the install yourself? I've never done this type of work on my truck at all, but with the Toytec pre built coilovers I think I can handle it. Is it simply a matter of jacking it up, swapping out the old coils and shocks and sticking in the new ones?

3. How hard is it to do the TC UCA install? Keeping in mind a "moderate" mechanical ability on my end.

4. What were your final lift heights in the front and back?
