    Thanks for accepting me to this group. New to the Tacoma world and the 4x4 world. 2017 SR5 4 door TRD off road. In the past people would install locking hubs on 4wd vehicles. I don't recall seeing them on Tacoma trucks.

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

    Your Tacoma has an ADD system, Automatic Differential Disconnect. Instead of disconnecting the outer axle from the front hub like a locking hub does, the ADD system disconnects the right axle in the front diffential using an actuator. This system allows for actuation while driving. Most modern selectable four wheel drive vehicles use a similar system for the front differential.
