Lulz, the ppl at your dealership are a bunch of idiots and are feeding you a bunch of crap. I installed mine myself and it was easy as pie. Everything is installed on the outside. If you search, there's actually a pdf of the installation instructions. I'll see if I have it on this laptop or not.

The DIY link and the pics posted here make this a simple upgrade. Fuck dealerships trying to act like it's some crazy involved overpriced secret shit. Looks like no roof rack for ACs due to the length tho......:(

Well, that just makes me wonder if the AC rails have holes predrilled. Doubting it would. That'd be where the drilling and the headliner coming down would play into things it seems.

yeah true, didnt think of that part. can almost bet you'd have to drill to get it. maybe not even worth it at that point

I won't be drillin mine. Got long bed and overhead racks for extra stuff. Good enough for me but damn, I like the way that rack looks on DCs and more useful too with the shorter bed for those without DC LB.

I actually found the installation pdf on this laptop but I don't have a site to upload to.

PM me your email and I'll send it to you if you want it.

I didn't remove anything from the clips on mine. I bought it used and didn't have instructions, but it fits nice and tight and doesn't make any noise. What does removing the upright pieces of the clip gain you?

    EDIT:

This guy didn't remove the clips either.

There is no drilling involved. Remove the rubber/vinyl gutter covers and the holes/nuts are prewelded. I did the install on my 2008 DC in less than an hour. I assume these are the factory rails that you ordered. Good luck

    None yet.
No idea, but I didn't snap mine like in the pics. When I grabbed them, the entire clip came off. It looks like they were only held in place with a little adhesive pad anyway.

Bama, By removing the clips, I gained the satisfaction of having read and blindly followed the instruction, without thinking that the removal might not be neccessary. After all, it's an engineered product for goodness sake !!! Now I feel kind off stoopid for having not checked... LOL !

What, reading the directions before installing!
We need to consider putting your mancard on probation!
Just Kidding, thanks for the pictures. I have been contemplating putting one of these on my truck.

well they for some reason bent something and it wouldnt fit, and they dropped a tool and dented my door panel.

so they are going to bring the truck back in on tuesday, they ordered a new rack, will fix the dent paint it again.

and for the troubles they had they are going to detail the truck for free fixing all scratches and dents, and give me back my install fee that i paid. so i guess it worked out :)

None YET! (It's only got 50 miles on it.)
I want to install a roof rack on my 2011 Tacoma to haul a canoe. I see the racks on several Tacos, but none have a cross piece or two to support the canoe. Are there optional cross pieces that connect to the two rails?
