Thanks! It's been a really fun learning experience!

    1. I haven't lifted the rear yet, but have a 2" AAL and rear 5100s ready to install probably this week when I get back home with my folks. The 5125s are also a good choice for the rear with the AAL. Did you get a chance to get the rear spring TSB done before your warranty went out?

    2. Yes, I did the install myself and I also have limited mechanical experience. And it is a pretty simple process, just be prepared for it to take a while. Just doing the front took me and a friend about 8 hours, learning along the way.

    3. The whole lift install is actually a little easier if you replace the UCAs at the same time, simply because you'll have more room to work. And the UCA install is just as simple as the coilover install, the only thing is there is a LONG ASS BOLT that's a little tricky to get out and back in. You'll have to bend the inner fender well out some to clear it, but just take your time. It really will come out! Also, check out this link. Step by step how-to on the TC install... http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/14507-total-chaos-uca-how-install.html

    4. I haven't measured since the springs have settled, but before settling, I think I was around 38.5" from the ground to the bottom of the fender at the center of the wheel.

Cool, thanks for the info and the confidence boost to go at this myself. I have a few more mechanically inclined buddies to help as well, so I think it will work out. Unfortunately it's -25 celcius right now where I live and I don't see actually doing the lift until spring.

Is the 5125 just longer than the 5100? Is there really any benefit to the 5125 with just a 2 inch lift. I was under the impression (not sure why exactly) that the rear was better suited to the 5125, but please correct me if I'm right out of er'.

I actually just bought the truck and I'm not sure if the original owner got the rear spring TSB done or not? Can I tell just by looking at it? Does the TSB rear spring give more lift by itself?

Also, what's your thought on the diff drop?

There's probably someone else that could answer better than me on the 5125s vs. 5100s, but I believe the only difference is length.

Take a look at the rear spring pack. If you see 4 leafs, then the TSB was done. 3 leafs and it wasn't. The TSB springs are a little stiffer, so they have the side effect of lifting the rear anywhere from .5"-1.5". Mine went up just under 1".

You'll find mixed feelings about the diff drop on this site. Many say that it's not necessary, some say it's great insurance. When you lift your truck 3", your on the edge of safe CV joint angles. The diff drop decreases that angle a bit. It's only $30 and takes about 10 minutes to install, so why not? It will interfere with after market skid plates (mainly the Bud Built skids), but it's not a problem if you don't plan to install those... (not that there isn't a way around it) :) Oh yeah, and I installed one.

Right on, thanks again for your help. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get closer to the install.

Did you get everything off Toytec? How about the UCA's?

Don't forget to extend your rear break lines if you install longer rear shocks.

Most everything I got from ToyTec, except the UCAs. Got them from WheelersOffroad.com
