UGH:  What causes that?? (If you know) What was the symptom/warning sign? I have had whining rear ends which are a nightmare to rebuild to remedy.... (You have to be "Dumbledore" (a wizard) to do that and set it up correctly so it doesn't start whining again after 5,000 miles: just get a low-mileage unit from the bone-yard: trust me) Please tell me that came from a Jeep.

Replaced my driveshaft with an new 2005-2015 OEM drive shaft. Not sure if there was a combination of a bad U joints and carrier bearing but it's smooth as glass again. Hasn't felt this smooth in 10 yrs.

Low mileage 2nd gen Tacoma is still the best value in the used truck market. I have never had a single complaint buying them. You can still buy 2 with very low miles cheaper than 1 new 3rd gen. The 4.0 has nearly 20 years of proven service and is still the powerplant in the new 4runner. In 15 years people will say "didn't Tacoma have a 3.5 at one time" and people will say "I think so but I haven't seen any in a few years". We will refer that as the experimental gen.

Did rear brakes today. Odd, on the right hand side one spring hat was rattling around loose. Do you suppose that happened while I was pulling the drum? The shoes didn't put up much resistance. They were about 50%. I guarantee everything was in the right place when they went back together.

I bought some new shoes. Sticking with Toyo's. I'm currently rolling on the MT's which I love but wanted to give theses RT Trails a go to see if it makes for a bit better economy. The MT's have gotten a lot more life than I thought I'd get at 40,000mi with plenty left to go.

Look into some 80/20 extrusion. It's rigid, and very easy to fab up something custom to fit your space. You can even have it attach to your bed rails.
