@RIX TUX is like a kid on Christmas morning right now. I can just see him jumping up and down in his onesie clapping his hands.

The NAPA #10504 locking gas cap is a bust.
I wound up with the Check Engine light lit up so I put the factory cap back in place.
It does not clear with the evap problem corrected.

Today, I stopped by my shop and the guys confirmed it was an evap related code.
They cleared both codes and I'm good to go.

I dunno why Toyota refuses to make a locking gas cap.
Yes, they have anti-siphon devices in the neck, but this does stop a snot nose kid from pouring sugar down your gas tank.

 

Pretty miraculous. My final Tacoma payment was posted by Toyota Financial Services on December 12th. Today, I received the title from PA Department of Transportation. I figured I'd see it in a month or two.

 

I had the same issue. Cleared the code with my own scanner but it comes back eventually.
This annoyed my spouse so I put the OEM gas cap back on.

 

You are now free to spend untold thousands on viper cuts, CMC, 6 inch lifts ... just in time for Christmas!

Buddy let go of his truck so I told him I had dibs on his ditch lights— swapped them over real quick, just need to run the harness.
I have replacement lenses coming as well, want to run driving combo amber lenses on it.

Will leaving them plugged in drain the battery when i turn them off?

 

I don't believe so because the engine has to be running to power the inverter.

I got mine at O'Reilly. The one's that work are supposed to have an S embossed on the top of the cap like this pic.



However, the one I got at O'Reilly Auto didnt have the s embossed on it and I haven't had any codes. Works perfectly.

So either buy the one in the link above or give the one from O'Reilly Automotive a try.

O'Reilly version works reasonably well ... no code. But it has recently not "clicked" at sealing. I will probably switch back to original to see if there is a incomplete seal that may be causing a small drop in MGP ...
