    Hey!

So I think I'm days away from getting my first vehicle, my first Toyota, and my first Tacoma... I'm excited to say the least :D

I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a Black A/C with steel wheels and I was just curious on any recommendations on how to paint them... Powder coat? Spray Paint? Professionally blasted and painted? Oh and pics would be nice! ;)

There are tons of painting threads. It is pretty easy and cheap, plus easy to fix. You sand, use adhesion promotor, prime, sand some more, prime again (2-3) coats, paint (2-3) coats, then clear coats (2-3) coats. Powder coating is nice but chips and is expensive. Do a search on here. I used Duplo wheel paint.

    thanks

had chrome rims on my other trucks

Decided to paint them before winter ( couple years ago )

but they turned out so good, havent looked for different rims

and once i put the Duratracs on , it was a done deal.

plus didnt have to mess with any back spacing, TPMS valves, etc.

Do you have any other shots? I had trouble making out the detail on the wheels. That looks sweet though - and you kept the Toyota emblem silver, which was something I was considering. Looks sharp!!

I actually painted the center cap white before I put the plasti-dip on there. Then all I did was peel away the black on the inside of the logo. I had a hell of a time with my first 2 caps because I sprayed the white on too thick and I scored the dip too deep with a razor, I chipped the white paint and it flaked off when I pealed the dip. Once I got the hang of it though they came out real nice.

I plastidipped my wheels a few weeks ago but I couldn't keep it from peeling off the lip of the wheel(just cleaned with alcohol and lightly sanded and cleaned with alcohol the second time) DSC_0575.jpg
I liked the look but wanted more gloss so I said screw it, peeled wheels and am painting them with gloss black rust-oleum which I'm doing now more pics to come but I already like the glossy finish better.DSC_0587.jpg DSC_0589.jpgDSC_0588.jpg

Just got finished doing this to my steel wheels. So far I’m a big fan! I used duplicolor wheel paint instead of ruatoleum but everything else was the same process. Unfortunately I didn’t have a center cap on tight as it should’ve been and lost it on my first drive with the newly painted wheels. If anyone knows a good place besides Amazon (theirs had questionable reviews) to pick up another cap I’d love the advice!

WIN_20181103_163737.jpg Painting the logo in the middle of the cap really sets it off.

This is the paint, the plastic dip didn't stay on but for about a week so I could get to the weekend and redo it.
