    [braces for ridicule]

This has bugged me for a while now. Does the 3G Tacoma "leather" interior have a distinct, sort of sour smell to the interior? This thing smells like no other new car I've had, but in my 30+ vehicles over the years I've, kind of unbelievably, never had leather/pleather until now. I've looked for wet carpet or other signs of leaks but no dice there.

And for the "y u no test drive" bozos, not that I was actively expecting to need to check a 3 mile truck for stank; but nothing jumped out at me on the showroom floor (was their RTT equipped "adventure display" and had windows open), and then I drove straight off in to a -10 degree blizzard to drive my unicorn 4 states home. I think it was a few weeks before I really started to notice it. Assuming this thing was the daycare jungle gym for customers' crotch goblins during the trucks tenure there, I guess now that I am saying this out loud, maybe one or two could have leaked some sort of fluid somewhere...might be time to dig the UV light out.

Toyota "leather" (really vinyl) has some odd funk to it. We have a '23 Camry SE that the seats are mostly the vinyl and it has a different smell to it.

Can't be as bad as Ford's vinyl that once you add a smoker to it gets really funky... :puke:

One and done or do you re-refresh periodically? I do have, somewhere, the seediest looking ozone generator from when I got fooled by an air freshener and bought a smoker car in California (I had to find some shady place that would ship one to a CA address; beggars and choosers, et al). I didn't think it would do anything if it were an inorganic material creating the funk, but maybe the material harbors somethin' stank.

That was a one and done affair. :anonymous:

Now I occasionally clean the seats with a generic "does everything" citrus oil, and it keeps things pleasant.

Hmm. I mean, that makes sense if it's the seat surface that's the problem. I've got Escape Gear seat covers that I absolutely love, but they were enough of a pain to get on I'm not stoked at the idea of taking them off and doing it again. I'll start with an air assault..though I feel like I might be better off with the OTS can like you had vs. my ozone fire (and who know what else) hazard.

I've had a similar problem in another car and ended up finding a dead critter in a tight space. I'd start opening every compartment and try to sniff that thing down. Good luck!

Do you have the oem rubber mats or aftermarket?

Some rubber mats have a scent that reminds me of the smell of my Trojans and skank juice from back in my youth days. :anonymous:

The questionable places my Drainpipe has been……. surprised it’s still standing unscathed. :transformer:

e to think my pup would take an interest if there were something like that in there.

Worth a look, maybe I can get the pup to help..although if she hasn't found it by now, maybe not.
