Yes original water pump that’s impressive. I wonder how the truck is doing nine years later

You did well. I had to replace the engine in my 1994 SR5 4x4 at 311,000. I opted to replace the clutch at the same time but when it was pulled, there was no obvious reason to. I traded the rig at 413,000 due to rust but otherwise, I might still be driving it. It was a great truck.

@qnyla hasn’t posted here any time recently but was active on TW just a few days ago. This thread was such a milestone back when it was first on the streets and it’s great to see other 2nd Gen folks posting their 400k + experiences alongside. Maybe reviving this thread a bit will get us an update from him.

Wow. These high mileage trucks are impressive. I’m at 180K on my truck now and it’s the highest mileage vehicle I have owned. I don’t think I’ll ever make it to 400K though before everything starts to rust away.

My frame has some surface rust but I’m in Southern California no road salt here. At 261k miles I’ve kept up with maintenance and truck keeps on running

This thread is definitely an inspiration and testament to Toyota. I’m planning to keep my 07 till wheels fall off then will get a 3rd Gen. I hope he can provide us with an update, I like his set up too with bull bar and winch

What kind of maintenance have you had to do? Anything major?

I picked it up with 250k miles, Carfax shows 8k-10k oil change intervals and “dealer service” throughout its life here in California. Here is the list of what I’ve done since I purchased it:
    Motor oil flush
    Serpentine belt
    Replaced spark plugs OEM
    Replaced Transmission fluid
Changed brake shoes in the rear and resurfaced rotors in the front
    Replaced PCV valve
Used Mobil 1 full synthetic 10W30 but might revert to 5w30 high miles. Will do oil changes every 3-4K
Dealer replaced leaf springs under recall last October
    Replaced clock spring

I’ve heard some people say to “service” or replace timing chain I don’t know if that is necessary. Maybe idler and tensioner Pully will be next on my list. Truck runs strong and I would assume it runs/sounds like a low mileage Tacoma from the same year. I put 87 octane gas from Arco and off brand gas stations since gas is expensive here in CA. If you have any advise let me know. Planning to keep truck running for at least another 200k miles. I use it for camping and work.

400k miles on extended oci intervals. I hope some of the jackwagons on here read that!

Well done and any brand of synthetic will get you to 400k.
