DDM tuning HID kits

i think i am finally going to get a kit from DDM, maybe 2 kits. if i get the fogs i am going with 3000k for that fog light look. i have done some searching here and on the net but...

I have a few things that i am not sure of ...

1- i have the fog light on anytime mod, so basically they are always on, do they have a long life or should i just stick with Halogens for the fogs?

2- do i need the hi/low option for the headlight? i assume its well worth the $20? also with the hi low option, all the harnesses are included right?

3- i am torn between 4500k and 5000k for the heads. i want white white white, a little blue might be ok but i do not want too blue or too yellow. any opinions here?

4- are the slim ballasts really worth more money? it seems that there is more issues with them? and its not like theres no rooom for regular size ballasts in the engine compartment

1. The fogs will be fine if you have them running all the time. Yes whenever you have your lights on you are drainging the life but I bet you will sell the truck before the bulbs go out from usage.

2. I got the hi/lo kit for my headlights and Honestly i dont use the Hi that often but then again I do have 6 55w converted off road lights i use on a regular basis. But its better to have the hi beam and not need them then to get the low beam only kit and need the hi beam......... Get the hi/low kit.

3. If you are going with the 35w kit which i recomend for headlights and want the whitest light then go with the 5000k. That is what i have and they are very very white.

4. I got the regular ballasts and have no problem with fitment anywhere. ( I have 4 ballasts under my hood ) If extra space is a problem then go with the slims but im sure you will be fine. We put regulars in my friends 2nd gen with no problem.

Thee Hi/Low lights on some HiDs dont make a big difference but it would always be a good thing to do and all the harnesses should be included. )easy to install)

4. slims ballast are only for small cars i think but something u should look foward to is getting some HIDS with 55w ballast

 

anyone know how quick they ship? i have heard that their customer service is poor? but gain i hear that the other HID places out there dont have a great product like DDM? any other suggestions in t a similar price range?

There won't be much of a difference between 4500k and 5000k. 4300k is pure white and the whitest/brightest color temperature. I originally had a 4300k kit in my last vehicle and changed to 5000k bulbs and there was hardly a difference. 6000k will have some blue in it.

 

I have ordered four times from DDM and had no problems with CS at all and they had to replace a ballast in one kit and a bulb in another.... They shipped out the replacement for each that day and at no cost to me.

But I have ordered from Amazon also and had goodluck. I hink everyone just has their own experiences at different places so IMO just buy from where you want and see for yourself.

 

MY friend ordered some 8k's from DDM, they took about 3-4 weeks to get here, and we installed them last week, im not very impressed with there brightness, his last set was from XtremeHID'S they were A LOT bright, but, didnt have highbeams.

 

I have had ddm kits in the past and you get what you pay for. Problems with the ballasts not firing reliably is common and expected. For a bit more money I went with xenon depot Volts. They should be here this week. Good luck with the ddms. I just wanted reliability this time around.

Thanks Brock. It was kind of a loaded question for the OP. If you get a chance post up the right cutoff lines.

Next [OP]yellow 3000's are not fog lights. The reflection from a HID even in that range will reflect back and blind you. They are used for racing classes because of their range distance and also color. Not as fog lights.

 

Actually from that distance they look just right for a truck. What setup are they using?

 

im going with DDM lights but am undecided on the ballasts. i hear that the slim is the way to go because they r digital and have had the bugs worked out, then i hear that the slim suck and i should get the raptor kits. what do you guys think?

im not looking to spend a ton on a retro fit. im just going to do bulbs, i plan on getting the next gen tacoma when it comes out so i dont wanna sink too much more into mine,

 

Both my cars have the DDM Tuning Slim ballasts and neither have had any issue with firing or stable light.

 

ive had a ddm kit with the standard balasts for over a year with no issues. slim balasts seem like a waste of money to me.

 

i know that the DDMtuning H4 bi-xenon hi/low kits come with a harness but i would like to know if i need to or should buy a harness for the H10 fog kit. both would be 35w 5000k.this is the harness i am talking about http://store.sharphid.com/product_p/hidwireharness.htm. seems to have a relay and maybe a fuse? maybe this is some insurance for my stock wiring? thanks

Wondering the same question myself. From what I gather, it seems that our Tacoma's wiring is pretty good and may not need it, but I dont see why it would hurt to get, especially considering the over cost of the DDM setup, which i think you might save yourself a good 20 bucks or so if you get it from their site instead of the link you posted. (ddmtuning.com) Its interesting to see how good of results everyone is having with these kits under $200.00. I was considering the morimotos, but may go with DDM

 

i am going with sharphid 5000k heads and 3000k fogs, i am also getting my interior and brake LEDs thru them. i got the extra harness for the fog kit just because it has the relays and fuses. thanks
