I bought a set of oem takeoffs from fb marketplace. I plan to bake them and do the Bhlm mod. I’ve searched the forum but haven’t found a solid tutorial. Can anyone who has it stickied link it or give me a rundown of helpful tips?

One of the best tips that I found and used was to use Easy-Off over cleaner to remove the chrome coating on the plastic chrome parts that you want to black out. It's really easy. Spray it on, let it sit for about 10 minutes, and hose it off. Some areas like the inside corners might need more than one treatment, but it's SOOOOOO much easier than sanding those things by hand. I've done it both ways and the sanding sucks.

Just personal experience, but I've done a few sets on subarus and then my tacoma and I've never sanded or stripped, or even scuffed the chrome and never had any adhesion issues. Definitely get more butyl to reseal the lens/housing, its cheap at home depot.

Had heard about the easy off but didn’t buy any, started sanding one bezel with 600 grit and it pissed me off so I sprayed it after cleaning and sprayed the other one without any sanding at all. It’s housed inside the light so unless heat creates bubbling or paint failure it should be good. If not I’ll be a pro once I take them apart a couple times

I've done it both ways. If you don't remove the chrome the paint can chip really easy, especially around the edges during reassembley. Ask me how I know....

Heard! Got any tips on removing the yellow oxidation from lenses other than mechanical sanding? It looks like some “restoration” kits use a chemical wipe that removes the yellow? I’m sanding the entire lens but there’s some yellowing that looks like it’s not coming out

    DEPO smoked housing $50/ea

brand new. Smoked with clear lens. No sanding, dish washing, oven baking, painting, or butyl scraping involved.

don’t know. Chose the DEPO. Added better bulbs and harness. Better light than stock prior. Can’t complain. Housing looks the same.

    All the adjustments work good?
My oem black headlights I spent an entire day on were ruined by a retard on a stolen bike
    IMG_7621.jpg
got some free oem ones (chrome and faded). While grateful for them I loved the clear lens with the black

I've adjusted them yes. I usually take the plastic caps off the adjusters and leave them off.
If anything feels like it needs more adjustment like driving at night I find some time pull over, make that adjustment, then re-evaluate.
Sounds simpler to me than finding a wall, measuring distance in feet, and figuring out a formula of what that should be based on headlights height of the vehicle ride height/position.

The housings they’re referencing are for 05-11 Tacomas. Do not fit 2.5 gen

I just did mine a few weeks ago and used the Ceracoat headlight restoration kit. The results were fantastice. They have the wipes and some sanding, and then there's wipes that they say contain a ceramic coating. They look amazing. We'll see how they hold up.

At what grit did you apply the sealant?

The kit comes with everything you need including the sandpaper disks and a really nice foam cushioned sandpaper holder. There's 2 different grits, but I don't remember what they were. You use the wipes to remove the yellowing/contamination, wet sand, wet sand again with the higher grit, then use the coating wipes. The transformation between the final sanding and the coating wipes was amazing. I chose to tape off around the perimeter of each headlight so I didn't accidently sand into the paint, and that took longer than actually working on the headlight.
