Sure the Tacoma may be overpriced, but so is everything right now. We have $90k 1/2 ton gm trucks, $60k Colorado and Canyons on our lot. At least the Tacoma will hold a higher resale value, as it always has.

The awful sales model makes it worse. The Gulf States region used to be the best place in the US to buy a Tacoma. Not anymore.

Is that predicting engine explosions at 30k miles or just saying slow our roll before jumping to conclusions?

I'm looking forward to some owner reviews after some decent mileage is put on the new Tacoma. Not a hater at all. I'm hoping they're as good as earlier gens so I'm comfortable trading in my 2022 in a few years.

In three years you’ll know if Toyota built a winner.

I'm a buyer the summer before they release the 5th gen if they're as good as I suspect they will be.

That’s because the “improvements” are very disappointing.

So why pay more for pretty much same truck when one can enjoy a paid off truck with a N/A v6 engine that will be more reliable in the long run.

    Its quite simple actually.

Because I don't have a Tacoma... So if I (and others here) am looking to buy something, we are looking at the 4g.

Junk, we get that you dislike the 4g but you love your 3g. No one is taking that from you, no one is asking you to buy the 4g. You will be ok.

We don’t even know how much a Tacoma Pro costs yet. I bet some will be priced higher than the Tundra Pro. Someone here already posted a dealer asking $70K for a non Pro Tacoma. It’s insanity.

I know I will be ok, appreciate your concern. I mentioned this already, my truck is staying with me till the wheels fall off and I have absolutely zero intentions of buying a 4G. As Toyota fan, I hope 4G proves to be as reliable as previous generations and if some folks like the 4G and are in market for one, then that’s just fine and dandy.

You were asking why some 3rd Gen owners love their truck and dislike 4G if it’s pretty much same truck. I replied to your post explaining why. That’s like my opinion and I hope it’s alright with you.

Again, you are on a public Tacoma enthusiast forum. If you can’t take somebody else’s opinion then you are in the wrong place sir.

Even 20-30K miles is not nearly enough to determine whether the 4th gen Tacoma is worthy of its name or its hefty pricetag, IMO. The reliability game starts at 100K; better yet, 150K miles, so it will be while before we know how good this truck actually is.

But you bought a 2019, far before there were many 150k mile 3Gs out there

There are a few nuts on tacomaworld that drive 90k+ miles per year. I can’t imagine being in a vehicle that much. Most people are lucky to do more than 30k per year. So yes, it will be awhile for proof.

I think you get a pretty good idea on a truck if it’s a keeper after 18 months. I knew my 2021 was a keeper after 12 months. I knew I needed to get rid of my 2017 by then, but waited 18 months to be sure.

lol half of the photos in this 2024 subforum are of you showing people your 3rd gen, while crying about the 4th in the same breath.

My trade was a 2007 V6 Rav4 with 197K. I knew what I was getting more or less.

The 4x4 third gen tows the same as the 4th Gen.

but I’m willing to bet that the 4th Gen tows any amount far better than a 3rd gen
