Dang buddy. You've had some bad luck I think. I'm still on OG bearings. I installed Sep '21. Noise started happening after less than a year. I sprayed and the sounbd comes back. Haven't heard grinding yet luckily.

I'm starting to think that Timken has SHIT QA/ QC, even if some of the bearings they use are just rebranded Koyos. Almost like they get the reject bearings, they know it but don't care and package them up and sell them as new anyways. Best of luck to ya end consumer. 50/50 you get a decent one and if not, you can always exchange them.

What is the question that is being asked by Murph here?

I dunno what the deal is with them. First set lasted like just under 2 years I wanna say, this second set I am not impressed with at all. If I cannot get SCOL double rollers I am going with NSK bearings even if they are rated for slightly less rpm.
Do we know exactly how many doubleroller bearing superchargers online sells/makes? It seems to me they make these ones circled in red, which leaves that middle smooth idler with no better replacement unless they make that one? I don't see why they wouldn't just make them all. Every time I call them they don't seem to know which ones they have.

Will trd ecu and trd injectors be adequate for 2.7 pulley? Is it a nice bump from a 2.85?

orange trd injectors and trd tune work fine down to 2.5 by my experience.

Only the tops are currently made by them right now to my knowledge. Why no one makes a viable alternative "performance" replacement for the lower is actually beyond me. Seeing as to how they see the most load out of the bunch.

Speaking of.. My Boss/Owner of the shop came by today to tell me that the company we just bought a new machine from, is flying him and his son to the Nascar race in Vegas in a couple weeks as a thank you for your business, pretty cool. BUT.. he then apologized ahead of time for the next part. Prior to that race they are flying them out to Cali for a couple days to get a personal tour of the TRD headquarters and manufacturing facility since they use this same machine brand themselves. They'll get to see all the R&D stuff, Nascar division, etc. They had to sign some NDA's and cant take any pictures but he said he'll report back.. lol. I was bummed to say the least. He said if he had another ticket or could bring another person he would take me in a heartbeat. Cool regardless, they will be in the Motherland! lol Had to share.

Anyone know of a dedicated 5vz supercharger thread?
Or if anyone wants a new Gates Micro-V K040620 belt… accidentally bought it when doing belts on the 4Runner and can’t return it.

you should be fine but just monitor your afr's. TRD tune was mostly known for being overly rich but there were a few that ran lean. you can also consider boost referencing the injectors as well

Hey everyone, just wanted to do a shout out in thanks to a few guys here that helped me, and to ask maybe a couple questions still to the group.

Some of you may recall a post I made a few months ago when I mentioned that I may move to a larger pulley size due to slippage.

Little did I know (my bad, having been away from the forum almost 7 years), that this had already been figured out, and there was no need to change supercharger pulleys.

I asked a few questions, and contacted some of the guys by PM. I contacted @BillDaCat8 , and he was super helpful getting me started in the right direction. I bought a VW oem pulley, and then contacted @XPOTRPR via PM to ask him if he wouldn’t mind machining the pulley for me. Not only did he offer to do the job, but then went out of his way to find the right bolt and washers so I could bolt it right up! Needless to say, I am very grateful.
In my spare time, I tried to catch up on all the time I’ve been away from the forum by reading as much as I could from this thread.
I found that some members had experienced the long studs snapping, and that @Athlaos had made some stronger ones last year. I contacted him and he hooked me up with a pair of newly made studs. Another big thank you .

I went ahead and bought a Rousch tensioner, and the double bearing roller pulley for it.

    Here’s where I have a few questions:
First, for those of you that have done this, will grinding the tensioner on a simple bench grinder work? Second, after grinding for clearance, will I need a washer between the tensioner and the pulley? Or just a washer on the outside? Does anyone remember what size/length bolt to get? I couldn’t find the post # where it might be discussed.

Finally, the belt. When everything is done, I’ll have @BillDaCat8 ’s wrap mod, and a 2.55 pulley. I’m guessing the Gates K050705RPM?

Thanks again for everyone who has helped, this is a great place! Here’s some pics.

    Everything together so far:

    IMG_4049.jpg

    Some nice new studs:

    IMG_4052.jpg

    @XPOTRPR ’s beautifully machined pulley:

    IMG_4050.jpg

And finally the Roush tensioner and double bearing pulley:

    IMG_4051.jpg

On a final note, if anyone can think of something I could upgrade “while I’m in there”, I’d certainly appreciate the suggestions. I do everything in the driveway, so it will be a while until I can work on it. Lol, winter sucks when you have an X-Runner!

please check page 1 for correctly mounting pulley on roush tensioner. its photos of mine as i thought i had it correct but didnt. i did a little sanding on the tensioner with an angle grinder and 80 grit paper so the pulley fits as needed. if you put the pulley on as it seems to fit it wont work out so well. hope that makes sense.

Thanks for replying. I saw your pics on pg1, and know that I’ll have to mount the pulley with the clip facing out. What I was wondering is if a small washer needs to go between the cast tensioner and the pulley. I know one needs to go under the bolt head on the visible side.
Do you remember what bolt size you needed?

i dont remember changing anything. i just modified the roush to accept the spacing of said pulley to work. then stuff is good. if you bolt it together and it looks correct pre install its likely a no go. you will see when you align belt. a lil custom grinding and its been sweet like farm butter. you really need to check then see. ive had no issue of fiting since. pm me if you dont have it solved.
