If it ain't broke, fix it until it is. Put an oil catch can JLT P/N 3107D-B in the 4Runner. Installation following the JLT video is fairly straightforward, though the bracket was digging into the VSV vacuum hose. I added some plastic split loom as chafe guards.



The mounting location isn't as tidy as the 2GR version, due to heater hose routing, but emptying the can is easier.

You'd still need to come up with a baffle arrangement under the metal cap. Otherwise there would be no oil separation.

Didn’t even realize it was there until a couple hundred kms. Thank goodness for rust locking it in there.
