    Howdy from the wrong side of the world! I've been poking around TacomaWorld for a few months now and figure it's time to chime in.

    Well, I call the wonderful state of Alabama home, but as an Army Brat lived all over the US and Europe. Did 6yrs in the Army and have been in the middle east since '02. Love being where I am, doing what I do and the folks I do it with. But, I look forward to the day that I can come home for good.

    After about 4 years of looking, shopping and debating, I finally pulled the trigger on a Taco about 2mo ago while home on R&R. Ordered some body armor for it and once it was on, it was time to head right back overseas. Boo!

    New to "Off-Roading", but have spent more than my fair share trudging through the desert. Suppose that's how I caught the bug.

    I have a laundry list of things I want to get done, and it continues to grow. No thanks to TW.

    Added some pic's of progress so far...

    Enlisted in Air Defense then moved to Intelligence. Called it quiets in '01. Tried the whole civilian thing for a year and figured it wasn't for me. My MOS was locked, so I opted to wait until I could move to something different. So, I started contracting in '02 and haven't looked back. Pay's better and my boots are more comfortable.

    @RLDTACO: Thanks!

    @navysealboy93: Good luck with the Army. I look back on my time as the worst... and best times of my life. Yeah it sucked, but hell, I had a blast! Where else do you get free helicopter rides, blow s*&% up, and if your lucky, kill bad guys?! It ain't what it used to be though. These days they're a bunch of soft, undisciplined sissies if you ask me. But hell, that's what my Dad told me when I joined and more than likely, his Dad told him that too when he signed up. Agh, the circle of life.

    As for the truck... not completely sure yet. I kinda like the whole "expedition" thing, but I suppose we'll wait and see. But, I just had the fog-lights and high clearance tow hitch put on. I'm also working to get a 4are shell with roof rack, 3" lift and some off road lighting. Hope to have all that done on the next pay check. Loved the Elusive Elements behind-the-grille lighting brackets, so I might have to sign up for one of those. Not sure about rim's and tires. They work fine right now and it don't make sense to toss a perfectly good set while I'm all the way over here. I'll be throwing the whole recovery catalog (hi-lift jack, pull-pal, straps, pulleys, etc.) at it this summer in preparation for a family cross-country camping/sight-seeing trip. After the trip, I'll have a better idea of what I need. I hope.

    Jake, sandstorms always suck, though this one is light in comparision too most. We were "promised" thunderstorms by our CC and only got about 5 minutes of muddy sprinkles. For your sake, I hope it rains like the bottom fell out for about half an hour, so you can get some clear skies for your trip the hell outta here. Have a safe trip home!
