Yo bud, yeah you should be just fine, I'm sitting at 231,463 miles as of today. I'm OG owner of my 2017, been tuned for most of its life . I started throwing tunes at my truck after the warranty was over . I think I had around 42k mi on my truck when it was first tuned . If you have any further questions I'll be happy to answer them with my best experience.

I got lite/mild, and have played with mild but mostly use lite. Notice better shifting patterns even with lite. Nice that the OTT tune guys allow reflashes if desired. For now I plan to stick with what I have.

I had my 2018 tuned in December. No regrets.

Got the OTT 9 tune with the lite/mild throttle response. I like it. Big improvement over stock. Truck seems to be in the right gear now when driving. Shift points are where they should be.

Fuel mileage hasn't suffered. Might have lost a litre / 100 km for city driving but my highway fuel mileage is on par to what I had before the tune. Got 10.5L/100 (22 mpg) on a coastal drive with lots of hills this past weekend that I frequently do in the spring - fall.

If you’re happy with how your truck runs and shifts, leave it alone. If not, get it tuned. I’ve been running a kdmax tune on my 21 since 1,800mi, now at 44,000.

Before tuning the truck ran and shifted like garbage. I couldn’t believe Toyota engineered such a lousy product. Prior to tuning, the truck could barely hold 6th gear on a flat road at 75mph with no headwind. A 15mph headwind was miserable, with constant gear hunting between 4th and 6th. Now I can even accelerate in 6th gear to a point and only drop it into s5 into really strong headwinds.

The current kdmax tune is really good and by all accounts the OTT is as well. I’ve read that many tuners will flash you back to the factory tune and refund your $$$ if you don’t like their tune. Personally I’d never go back.

The tune won't be helping shift points lol. I just find it sluggish on acceleration

been OV tuned for years and never had any issues with smog test. A lot of BS negative claims about tunes…I would have sold the truck if I didn’t tune. Now it’s so much more driveable and fun, not to mention better power and a little better mpgs

Any acceleration with this truck below 2.5k is sluggish and it really needs to get above 3k to start making power. But on the factory tune just holding a constant speed in 6th was asking allot. Tuned I can accelerate to a point w/o a downshift.

Even tuned though, this truck is basically a dog in 5th and 6th. The tune just makes it livable vs miserable.

I'm at 115,000 miles on the odometer. About 85,000 of those miles have been tuned. 55,000 of those miles are with OTT. I haven't had any concerns or issues, and there's no way I'd ever go back to stock or any of the other tunes I've tried now that I've experienced OTT.

    OTT tune
Most people find the benefit of the tune for the automatic transmission trucks because it is such an epic failure regarding the gear hunting and eagerness to stay in the tallest gear possible all the time- not a mechanical issue, but rather just terrible OEM tuning of the shift logic. Considering that you have a Manual, the hope of increasing power alone may leave you dissapointed. The power increase alone is barely noticeable, if at all. Sure, the throttle response is better, so it will "feel" a bit more powerful because your pedal input will result in more throttle with less effort/travel, but adding 15-20 HP on something that weighs 4500 lbs is not going to make much difference.

Tune it if you like wasting money. Might as well get a cold air intake too!!

Injen Evolution is the best one of the market, IMO.

I also have a custom performance tune by OTT. The Injen intake lowers intake air temps by 15+ degrees. I know this by data logging. I’m very satisfied with the performance. Lower IAT helps with timing.

I am getting tuned next week, and I have no doubt about their effectiveness. But I'm kinda surprised tuners don't offer a money back guarantee. If you aren't satisfied with their product and service, seems they should have no problem reflashing the crappy stock ECU settings and refunding your money. I don't know of a single person that regretted getting tuned and wished they had their money back.
