So a while back I posted about that cheap Home Depot tiller I bought not starting without a sniff of ether. Baffled me as I had non-ethanol in it that wasn't that old Well, last weekend I found out what the cause was...



It was out of gas...

Actually I'm serious about this one... There is one of those little white filter things in the top of the tank so I couldn't see the level. I wanted to get a look inside the tank and boom, just about dry! Guess it had just enough in there to run after starting fluid, but not enough to start without it. These Chinese Honda clone engines are weird...

 

just remember your probably not the first one and not going to be the last one.

 

I took the latch/tab off all of mine, they are hard enough to move without fighting that too. When I pinched my finger because of one of them, I knew it was time

I got the PUG delivery first thing this morning, and was able to get it spread and packed down with the roller. This load cost me $350 for 23Tons, better than buying more Surge, but still about 30% more than a load of PUG cost me 6 years ago. I asked the driver to set the chains for a 6" pour. I think he set it closer to 5", but that spread the load about 70 yards. I was reasonably pleased with how much ground it covered. I was able to pack that down pretty good with the roller to 2-3" thick. The weather is supposed to nasty tomorrow, so I should find out how good of a road builder I am in short order.


As my finances allow I will get ~6 more loads delivered to resurface all of this section of the driveway. I'm going to have them start at the creek and go all the away to the house, adding another layer to what was delivered today. I'll likely rent the roller again too, as that thing does a marvels job of packing the gravel.

PUG is a concrete, sand, and gravel mix. Once packed down and dried, it makes a good hard driveway surface.

Who do you order it from concrete co or quarry?

 

I ordered it from the rock quarry.

 

Good to know I will have to remember that to see if my quarry has it. Thanks
