2nd Gen Reinforcement Plates

Hey does anyone know where to get prefabricated reinforcement plates for the frame of a 2nd gen?

 

Yes, but they are just that -“Reinforcement Plates”
They reinforce an already “good” frame.

They are not patch plates. They do not make a bad frame- good again.
If this is what you are looking for, I haven’t seen any patch kits….yet.

researching boxing the frame

curious to know if anyone’s come to the same opinion that dimple holes are better

seems only a few options are that way

so that the inside remains when done and in the future
-paintable
-coatable
-cleanable
-serviceable (counter hold a nut etc)

Vs solid inaccessible plate

 

Not necessarily dimpled but you'll be adding more strength by having holes to plug weld.

 

gonna have to look up what that means lol
I’m guessing ability to access and weld things from the back side

I was going at it from a wrenching standpoint
Examples

-sliders I counter hold nuts behind frame to install
-washing including 360 nozzle I shove in the frame with garden hose to spray it out
-spraying fluid film straight out the can or using their tube attachment

all of which makes seem dimple holes better, while still adding a net increase in strength from stock

not to mention potentially welding more, or bolting more, things onto the frame
If that’s even recommended
Like a mud flap bracket holder

 

Depending what part of the frame you reinforce, I can't see the need to add anything anywhere with the exception of sliders.

The area that often gets reinforced is the rear part of the frame above the leaf pack, and with most kits consisting of outer plates, you'll have access to anything on the inside of the frame like normal (maybe a bracket for a line or something).

Can't think of anything else that would possibly need to get mounted outside?

Worst case you just make/cut your own if you need one side or area shortened for a future project otherwise they're all pretty similar.
