I agree that the credit card key is excellent. I put it in my wallet, so I don't have to carry keys around. It's a great feature that I didn't know I was getting when I purchased the 2024 Tacoma.

I like the card but still keep keys with me in case my garage door doesn't open when returning home. Power outage and such.

thats why i run a 9v keypad door lock (only use 9v keypads since the AA batteries die out during our -20F temps in winter in ND, dont have heated garage)

My door doesn't have a keypad, only have the remote. Also, I'm referring to a house power outage whereby the opener would not work. I can still go in the front door with my key.

thats what i am talking about. i have keypad door lock on the garage door that runs on a 9v battery. nothing special, no BT, WiFi zWave, Bigbee, fingerprint pad, etc.

just holds 5 pins, son, daughter, wife and myself have our own pin code.

once you get in, you can manually open the garage door though.

A lot of Toyota vehicles getting stolen here, including Tacomas (Ottawa area in Canada). Just switched from a 2020 to a 2024 Sport Premium and got the card key too. It's nice that we can turn off the transmitting function of the fobs (recommended by police here) but there's no way to do that with the card. Have to get a Faraday pouch for the card which makes it a PITA to remove it from the wallet all the time. :(

    Just remove the battery.

I don't think relay thefts are all that common anymore so much as the thieves are just picking the door open and going straight to the OBD port.

Best bet is to just install deterrents like the club and TAG or a similar tracking system with a high recovery rate. Most if not all thieves will just move on.

If you really want to get cute get a tire boot. No thief is going to waste time on that.

??? dont understand the question? how does pulling just the starter fuse affect the rest of the truck?

edit : i should note for hv models you dont have a starter fuse, you would have to pull another key fuse to do the same effect.

There is button on the outside door handle to lock the truck. It only works if you have the key with you. No one can randomly lock the truck from the outside
