How has the RAS worked for you?

 

My son always asks me if he should be worried with nearly 185k miles on my old 2012 SR5 V6. Always the same answer "not as long as you keep up with maintenance" which he does religiously. His runs, rides, steers and performs like it has 90k miles on it.

 

That is all it takes to keep them going!

 

I just recently rolled over 200k in my 09 Tacoma. was joking about now needing to scrap the truck. all that my truck needs is new front shocks, and ECGS bushing, and likely the valve cover gaskets replaced. when I did my plugs they were a little wet.

 

That was me! Ordered the borla, 690 OTD

 

Did the ECGS bushing replacement today. I had a bad vibration and it would pull a bit to the right. I replaced the bearing and both seem to be fixed. I had watched so many vids and the actual replacement is as easy as the videos make it seem.

installed a pop n lock tailgate handle in preparation for a bed cover that will be here Friday or Saturday. I ditched my ripcord camper

 

Not exactly today, but I recently finished making some of these. I had a pretty immediate need to be able to use the bed rails of my truck, but I didn't have time to wait for shipping.

I used them to secure some quick anchors to strap a dishwasher in the bed of my truck. Worked like a charm! Big ol' 1/2-13 thread, 304 stainless steel. Probably overkill, but I had stuff on hand to make these.

 

Nothing beats some home machining fun.

 

Dropped the pan, changed the filter and cycled in 12qts of WS ATF.





I used the method where after the first drain and fill you pump it out of the transmission 2 qts at a time using one of the cooler lines and adding as you go. THe biggest PITA was messing with easily spilled bottles under the truck as you transfer the new fluid into the tranny. One of those systems where it uses a pressurized container to fill the transmission would have been really helpful. Now I need to go out and pressure wash the spilled ATF off the driveway.

I second the long funnel method. so much easier and faster than pumping. I haven't tried the pressurized bottle method so can't speak to that.

Little late to tell you, but I have seen people pulling the grill and doing the same flush using the connection to the transmission cooler that's part of the tow package. They fill a chemical sprayer with fluid and pump it into the return line with a hose and have a bucket catching the fluid as it comes out. I'm planning to do the same thing but flush from there in a couple weeks when I have the fluid in hand and some time to get it done.
