how did you affix it to the snorkel hose coming through the fender? did the snorkel hose fit inside the original intake hose? if so how did you clamp it or did you use glue etc...

I tried it with a clamp and could not get enough grip. So you would have to glue it to seal it I would think.

Clamp. It's not my truck, I just spoke to the owner about using the stock intake the night before install and he made it work and threw some pics up in another forum. He also said he feels less performance now. Think he had a K&N intake before :notsure:

Hmmm, kinda makes me wanna install the snorkel, but leave my URD TCAI in, and only replace stock air box when I head out for wheeling trips... opinions? I think that would be a good idea, or set up the snorkel, test drive for a week and see whats up.

Also, Hey Oswego, that guy you mentioned in your quote up there, did he use the OEM filter when he installed the snorkel, or did he use an aftermarket drop in?

Edit:just saw the pic again, it has a K&N sticker on the stock airbox...

No clue, but the filter doesn't matter. I have run K&N oiled filters in all of my vehicles for over a decade and never had an issue.

How did you get a clamp on that hard tube to hold onto the softer rubber end of the snorkel? I tried this before I got the exhaust piece and it just kept slipping off. Just curious because I kept the stock intake piece and was thinking it would be a better piece on there then the exhaust pipe.

I didn't and I'm not sure, but I did just ask him. As soon as he responds Ill let you know.

I don't understand what the problem would be though. The OE intake is hard plastic and 3" diameter. The snorkel rubber is just about the same. In theory you should be able to just clamp it down. If the OE plastic bends and the clamp slips then I would reinforce it with a 2" long section of 3" diameter pipe.

So I just heard back and he had no issue's. He said he has over 1" of the rubber snorkel tube over the OE modified intake.

The OE intake must be cut at the 90* opening and remove the foam before fitting.

Yeah he sent me a PM with the pic. I cut my OE pipe further back and tried to clamp the hard OE plastic over the softer rubber and it would not bite enough. If I added a piece of pipe and cut the OE pipe at the flexible part then clamped it that would work.

If you already cut it too far, just cut right after the bulge and get a piece of 3" exhaust pipe bent to a slight angle (just to make it easier to use)

^^^That was what I was thinking. Gonna stick with the 3" pipe I have bent for now but was considering a ported or polished piece of aluminum to keep the air flowing smoothly. Don't know which way to go yet.

Yeah i cut mine right after the bulge and used a 3 inch to 3inch pvc connection. I just glued the pvc connector to the soft snorkel hose. i put 2 screws in it so it wouldnt slip off and slapped black weather resistant silicone on it.

That group buy is turning into a cluster f***. Oswego I don't know how much you had to deal with but your buy was much smoother than the way that one is going.

Any CAI hooked up to a snorkel will have it's performance limited by the bend in the snorkel tube. I personally do NOT think any added performance will be gained unless you modify that bend enlarging it.

He copied me on it, but here it is for everyone else.

    http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k279/wresneski/Consolidated Truck pics/Truck/2011-04-02091607.jpg

I had to deal with allot of BS. I just skimmed through his GB and I must say nothing pisses me off more then some asshat mother f*cker saying "I can get it cheaper here" in the thread like all of those douchebags were in his. All GB's are based on volume and as everyone who was involved in this one knows the 1st gens were only $5 cheaper then another vender UNTIL we reached 20 sold then they ended up being much cheaper. I think those type of people try to hard to get people to like them. If they were really interested in helping other members like most people who start GB's, they would have the common courtesy to send the OP a PM before derailing his GB. Funny how some of the same people try to derail the GB's. I caught the same DB who did it in this one do the same to Josh's floor mat GB.
