Toolbox install question

Hi folks. I have a 2010 4 cyl, reg cab, no frills Tacoma. I love my little truck! Today I bought a Kobalt (Better Built) toolbox part number 73014036 and a Grip Rite truck box mount system. My question is: HOW IN THE HELL DO I INSTALL THIS THING?! After getting nowhere with the directions on the box and mounts, I decided to just drill holes in my bed rails. I really don't want to do that, but I realized that wouldn't help either because I'd probably have to take my bed liner out to put a nut on the bolt, because it's all enclosed. I feel really dumb; am I missing something here?

I realize this has probably been asked and answered here before, and I did do a search, but I couldn't find it.

Thanks for finding that, I just used J hooks into the rail system.

 

Y'all beat me to it.... J hooks work well, just check them and keep them tight once a month or so. The tool box is easy to take out as well and doesn't leave permanent marks.

That was an excellent post I found about mounting my box. The info was accurate, the OP took clear pics, and it was well written. However...

That mounting system sucked! Those mounts are just little plastic blocks with 3/8" nuts in them. As soon as the bolts snugged up, the plastic cracked, and I didn't over torque them. I'm taking them back to Lowe's and getting my $30 back. I'm going to make some mounts out of lexan.

 

ive got a toolbox that goes right into the bed rails and they are still sturdy as can be but it is a bitch to put on but worth it cus that thing aint movin

 

What kind of box is it?

 

I did this but I put double nuts on so they dont come lose. 1st nut to hold the j-hook, 2nd nut tightened to the 1st nut so it wont back off.

 

its just toyotas toolbox, made by deezee. i just went into the dealer cus everytool box i tried around town wasnt fitting so i got pissed and paid alot for this thing but oh well, it works and fits great
