I grew up on, and still listen to classic rock.
Hair metal is my favorite style of rock.

    @TnShooter

Do you think this is a bad idea? Could it be done without too much trouble?

I thought the whine was more up front like alternator or AC?

I disagree. I prefer manual over auto for the 2TRFE. That being said, I still wouldn't go through the trouble of converting a Tacoma when there are plenty available with a manual already.

    i have heard otherwise
    '11 single cab 4wd
cruising the freeway at 70+ mph with the AT in D
small inclines out of the valley are encountered and the transmission refuses to downshift smoothly to gear 3
apply more throttle and nothing happens, just keep losing momentum, which is sucky when you are in the faster lanes with someone following too close and you start to slow down while giving more throttle and goes nowhere

so i have found the only way to pick up speed on these small inclines is to manually throw the automatic into gear 3 and get the revvs up to 4k RPM and manually shift the automatic back into D ... which is quite counterintuitive imo

but i have no idea/experience about the MT in the Gen2s with the 2TR-FE and how they handle this freeway situation with you in control and not some computer

I also think manual with the 2TR-FE is the way to go. Especially true if you live were there are any hilly roads. That being said if I had an Auto i would likely just look for a different truck as opposed to swapping it although I know some have done it.

All that being said I generally prefer manuals over autos anyway, especially in the snow. But for many it's just a personal preference.

There is nothing great about the MT in a taco. But then, the automatic is absolutely horrible like terrible horrible. So if he does it, it would be an improvement.

A lot of people before you have done it.

No you cannot keep your foot pedal e-brake, its mounted where you'll need to mount your clutch. Cruise also needs to be adjusted because of the clutch saftey switch youd be installing (build journels document this stuff, search around) I have a 3rd gen (handbrake) but @DesertRatliff has an excellent swap journey and installed the third gen handbrake in his 2nd gen. He also links a lot of other threads that he gained info from. Basically its been done several times over and theres a pretty sweet bread crumb trail of info available.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/6mt-throwout-bearing-and-clutch-system-shenanigans.698464/

This isnt swap orientated per say but there's a ton of great info in there about 2nd/3rd 6mt.

I support it, I'm kinda going down my own path of exploring my own swap (cause dclb 6mt is the tits)

Nay sayers will tell you otherwise but follow that dream, unless you have to pay a mechanic to do the work, then follow your dream but consider your pockets.

It reverberates; I thought that too, but it only happens when the transmission in reverse or any of the forward gears…
