    The Kit -

After several weeks of mocking up in 16 gauge, followed by measuring, cutting, and prototypes in 3/16" the kit is finally complete!

    20241103_183301.jpg

    20241103_183314.jpg

    Hardware -

You will need to provide your own M10 x 1.50 x 30mm of your choice. The hardware welded on these parts are M10 x 1.50 nuts all around.

If you are unsure of what hardware you should get, I'll leave these few points along with several links.

Here is one popular option. Zinc plated bolts in grade 10.9 -

    https://www.mcmaster.com/90854A192/

Lower grade 8.8, zinc plated option -

    https://www.mcmaster.com/91280A634/

For aesthetic reasons, you can opt to choose a different style bolt for the exterior brackets as these will be the only bolts visible after installation is complete.

For a clean button head solution in a stainless option that'll never rust or corrode you have these -

    https://www.mcmaster.com/90991A212/

And lastly, you can opt for a "theft proof" version given that you purchase the appropriate tool for such an install. This bolt uses a T45 tamper-proof torx that is readily available at most hardware stores and everywhere online -

    https://www.mcmaster.com/91900A873/

You will need a total of 14 bolts for the entire kit; 10 for the internal parts, and 4 for the exterior brackets.

    Options -

To offer a bit of something for everyone, I've opted to offer buyers a variety of exterior brackets shown below.

    Tie down bracket -

    20241103_183323.jpg

Tie down bracket with bottle opener -

    20241103_183334.jpg

For an added cost, you can opt to purchase a strap saver for your tie down with or without opener. These will ensure any ropes you use for looping around your tie down is protected from the edge of the steel cutout.

    20241103_183413.jpg

    20241103_183348.jpg

Please send a message to @MagicToolbox for payment and I will ensure you get your strap savers with your order.

    Pricing -

Each set is priced at $165 shipped via USPS anywhere in the lower 48. If you are in Canada, please inquire about shipping costs before ordering.

Because everything is measured and welded by hand, I will require a lead time of up to 2 weeks per set.

    Payment -

I accept most online services, as well as cash or personal check (if in-person).

Also for ease of installation, I will emphasize on points that can cause one install to differ from another.

When measuring the bed surface, it is important to note that the floor has a "hump".

The picture below is that of the driver's side.

Towards the tailgate, the bed floor is slightly raised and so the part towards the cab sits a hair lower. It is imperative that you measure from the lower portion as shown below in green.

    20240713_130919.jpg

The bottom hole center measures 10 3/16" from the bottom up. Place your mark, and scribe a line straight across. The top hole center measures 2 1/4" above your bottom hole.

    20240713_131008.jpg

Next part is also important. You need to measure 2" from the leading edge meaning, 0 will start from the edge closer to the cab.

This is how we measured 2" over. The edges are curved and this was the best method for measuring as accurately as possible.

    20240713_130900.jpg

Lastly, the bent bracket is slotted for ease of aligning everything which is something I noticed was not done on the massively produced set.

For those that have the ability to print 11" x 17", @MagicToolbox was kind enough to provide a PDF print out to be used as shown.

It is imperative that you use a known scale to ensure your print out is accurate before using.

    I'm interested.

I don't see myself needing more than 1/8" for the tie down, but I don't have a dirt bike or what have you that I plan to strap in, more just general cargo.

The bottle opener can work with cargo strap hooks as well.

The idea is that the entire setup would be made from the same thickness

It wouldn't be cost effective buying one thickness for most of the parts, and another thickness just for the outer plate is all

Sheets are sold in standard sizes

Perfect for businesses! Painful for the little guy :bananadead:

Sorry, confusion on my part. I don't work with steel much so I don't have a good idea of what is appropriate for this application.

You are more than good sir!

I learn a lot when I read other threads (no one knows Everything) so by posting here, it helps to show others what goes into doing these sorts of things whether big or small

Learned a lot myself just watching fabricators post, or DIY'ers posting in their own build threads

    Helps everyone

Really though, I bet I'd get a much better idea for thickness come Saturday

    I’m in for a set.
Bare plate, tie down, bottle opener, F-bomb, eggplant…
    I’m not picky.
The mocked up tie down looks a little on the large side imho

This is what I need to hear

Majority here I assume use tie downs

Some use ratchet straps, others use bailing wire, maybe bungee cords, rope, I want to know what the majority would like to see

I can also apply a radius to the inner and outer edges if the concern for gouging is a possibility instead of the square look you see now

Yes pls. Soft-tie is often first on the bed tie-down points. Sharp cuts 'em up....

Tie down sizing looks a bit big too. Perhaps you can reference stock tie-down points for sizing?

It'll still have a sharp metal "lip"

The opening will simply be rounded

That's something I see exist on all styles in the market, but yeah I can absolutely go round for some or all

I use mostly tie-downs, bungee cords, and ratchet straps so anything to minimize cutting/gouging would be nice.

Maybe multiple small tie-down points like the original instead of one large point? Also, i'm not picky similar to musicisevil :)
